  • Managing drip marketing / nurture campaigns.
  • Capturing lead-specific data on pageviews, asset downloads and other actions (interesting moments) in your lead2revenue marketing program.
  • Scoring leads to determine when they are sales ready.
  • Progressive profiling.
  • Setting up the instance with your marketing model is complex and not intuitive.
  • Reporting is challenging ... the data is there but it's hard to pull out.
  • Marketo landing pages are ugly and hard to style.
  • We are certain that marketo is helping us provide compelling drip marketing for our nurture campaigns ... these are prospects that we previously had not been staying in touch with in a programmatic way.
  • We are getting insight into the content marketing assets that are most effective in moving leads through the purchase evaluation process.
The thought of stating over with a new MAP vendor is daunting, but also would present an opportunity to "get it right the first time." If I felt like our Marketo instance were currently optimized then I would have no hesitation in renewing. Unfortunately, I don't feel that way.
MAP software is complex. Invest time with experts and pay a consultant to help you refine your strategy before you implement. Marketo is a good tool if you are using it correctly.
