Overall Satisfaction with UltiPro

  • This was a good product to introduce your employees to employee self-service (ESS); it processes benefits and payroll without too much trouble.
  • Customer support is my biggest issue. Most of the support folks who answer the phone or pick up the case haven't a clue.
  • Benefit file feeds: We have set up feeds to transmit data to the various insurance carriers. But this doesn't work all that well. We can't depend on them to run each week. It takes months to get one set up, and then it can take month to troubleshoot and fix when it breaks.
  • It's not very user-friendly. Our managers refused to use the performance module because it wasn’t intuitive and there were a lot of steps. It also seemed to duplicate work. For these reasons, we decided to stick with paper.
  • Many of their modules were not built in-house, which causes sync isses and disconnected look and feel.
  • Because it is not a truly integrated product, there is duplicate data entry and security set up.
If you don't need the bells and whistles and you are a fairly stable company (without a lot of movement), UltiPro may work out well. Make sure you understand which product/version you are purchasing. Pay close attention to your SLA and hold Ultimate accountable. If your account manager is not satisfactory, request a new one. On a positive note, they have a really good User Community on LinkedIn and participating in the group has helped find resolutions.

Using UltiPro

1200 - All employees
Payroll Admin & Support
HR Admin & Support
6 - HRIS - 3
Payroll - 3
  • Employees can go online and update their personal information. HR uses it to process employee changes. We are able to store our employee documents online instead of in hardcopy files.
We will probably not renew for reasons previously stated, but the main issues are customer support and lack of robust functionality.

Evaluating UltiPro and Competitors

UltiPro was in house when I joined the company.

UltiPro Implementation

We are still working through issues due to the decisions made during implementation but I think most of these are internal issues because there was no HRIS person on the implementation team.
  • Don't know
I wasn't here when they implemented. I think it was a combination of vendor and IT.

UltiPro Training

  • Online training
  • Self-taught
It is available, but most classes are very basic and the examples used are not real world situations.
The system is not intuitive and requires training. They do NOT offer onsite or face to face training with their Workplace product.

UltiPro Support

Customer service is very poor. There is no accountability between groups and the groups are very siloed. I don't know whether they grew to fast or if the structure/management does not support the business model.
No - At one point we tried to pay for dedicated support. One Ultimate support person to support us (no other clients). They wouldn't acknowledge our request.

Using UltiPro

It does a decent job of core HR, Benefits and Payroll.
ProsCons
Technical support not required
Unnecessarily complex
Not well integrated
Inconsistent
  • Onboarding

UltiPro Reliability

No real problem with uptime.
No concerns, fairly average.

Integrating UltiPro

  • Would like to integrate with: Active Directory, Environment Health &Safety (EH&S) and Finance systems, but will not attempt since we are looking to replace UltiPro.
