Announcing the Top Rated Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) for 2019

Today, we awarded the 2019 TrustRadius Top Rated badges for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). The TrustRadius Top Rated awards are the most trusted in the industry because they are an unbiased reflection of customer sentiment, based solely on user feedback and satisfaction scores. Top Rated awards are the voice of the market and are not influenced by analyst opinion, the vendor’s company size, popularity, or status as a TrustRadius customer.

Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)

An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) helps recruiters and HR teams manage their recruitment efforts. The system contains a database of candidates that automatically imports new candidates and their applications from connected job listings. From within the software, recruiters can contact applicants via email or through professional social networks such as LinkedIn. Most ATS products include tools to help recruiters post job listings on job search sites or the company websites. Some products support active recruitment methods, providing ways for recruiters to search for, talk to, and keep track of potential candidates—even if they haven’t applied for a job yet. Resume parsing and management, background checks, duplicate prevention, and reporting are other common ATS features.

Some vendors no longer use the term ATS and may refer to their products as “recruiting software” or “recruitment CRMs” instead. Some vendors use ATS to refer solely to the database portion of their software. Before purchasing an ATS, consider your business’s recruitment strategy and available resources. Larger companies may need a highly customizable ATS with granular reporting, while recruiters for smaller businesses might find extensive feature sets unnecessary and encumbering.

Here are the winners:

JobDiva

JobDiva is a cloud-based recruiting and staffing software suite that includes CRM, financial, VMS synchronization, and ATS applications. JobDiva helps companies unite front-end recruiting activities, such as candidate interviews and communications, with back-end processes like applicant tracking and preparing offer packages. Companies have access to features like a resume parsing tool with 24/7 resume aggregators, a matching tool that automatically pairs candidates with the jobs they are best fit for, and an intelligent search function that allows users to search through resumes based on specific criteria like ‘years of experience’.

A large portion (42%) of JobDiva’s users on TrustRadius are from enterprise companies. Reviewers frequently highlight JobDiva’s mail merge capability, ability to generate helpful recruiting reports, and applicant management features.

Workable

Workable is an ATS with active recruiting features. It includes targeted searching and CRM functions to help recruiters find, contact, and stay in touch with a pool of potential candidates. Workable’s in-app currency can be spent on premium or sponsored job listings, allowing recruitment teams to put paid listings on multiple job sites without paying each site individually. Workable also helps recruitment teams run background checks, coordinate interviews, collaborate with external recruiters, and get e-signatures on offer letters. For larger teams, Workable offers customizable approval workflows, real-time data monitoring, and detailed analysis and reports to estimate future needs. The majority (59%) of Workable users on TrustRadius are from mid-sized companies. Reviewers value Workable’s quick onboarding for new users, responsive customer support, and free training and resources.

SmartRecruiters

SmartRecruiters is a talent acquisition suite that offers a set of integrated recruiting tools. Their core product offers candidate sourcing, tools to post to multiple job boards at once, resume parsing capability, hiring pipeline management, team collaboration tools, and in-software offer letters. Reporting and analysis tools help teams improve their hiring processes. SmartRecruiters’ add-ons extend the core feature set by adding automated prospect searches, recruitment marketing tools, AI-driven screening, and customizable hiring workflows. Employees of enterprise-level companies make up a sizable portion (49%) of SmartRecruiters users on TrustRadius. Reviewers often mention that it streamlines their team communication, helps candidates stay informed about their application status, and provide important insights into hiring data.

JazzHR

JazzHR is an ATS focused on inbound recruiting. Companies can use JazzHR to post openings to multiple job boards simultaneously, create branded templates for messaging and job pages, automate workflow and candidate messaging, manage candidates in bulk, and analyze hiring metrics. Interviewers can take in-app notes on candidates during interviews. Post-interview, each candidate’s profile can be annotated and ranked. JazzHR also offers tools to maintain data confidentiality and include compliance forms with applications. A majority (60%) of JazzHR users on TrustRadius work for mid-sized companies. JazzHR’s candidate screening features, mass email capabilities, and interview discussion tools are popular with reviewers.

Greenhouse

Greenhouse is an ATS suite with support for offsite recruiting and new hire onboarding. With Greenhouse’s mobile app, recruiters can import prospects, digitize resumes, and take notes on candidates on-site. Managers can use analytics tools to evaluate the performance of hiring processes, offsite events, conversion strategies, and inclusivity efforts. Greenhouse supports active recruiting methods with targeted prospect searches, interaction tracking, and follow-up reminders. Employees from mid-sized companies make up a significant majority (73%) of Greenhouse reviewers on TrustRadius. Reviewers consistently appreciate Greenhouse’s interview preparation and follow-up tools, customization via an API, and clear view of the hiring pipeline.

LinkedIn Talent

LinkedIn Talent is a suite of recruiting tools integrated with LinkedIn. It supports passive recruitment via LinkedIn job postings, but focuses primarily on active recruitment. Recruiters can search and filter LinkedIn networks for candidates that match their criteria, take notes on prospects, contact candidates, and set up interviews. Branded company pages and targeted advertisements can help get the attention of potential new hires. LinkedIn Talent’s automated alerts, pipeline management tools, and performance reports help recruiting teams stay on the same page and optimize their strategies. A large portion (44%) of LinkedIn Talent’s users on TrustRadius are from mid-sized companies. Reviewers value LinkedIn Talent’s extensive pool of candidates, mass messaging within LinkedIn, and candidate organization tools.

Top Rated Criteria

Products included in the 2019 Top Rated Applicant Tracking Systems list must have been in the top tier of their category TrustMap as of February 13th, 2019. To qualify for the Applicant Tracking Systems Top Rated Award, products must have at least 10 reviews written within the past year, a TRScore of at least 7.5 out of 10, and must receive at least 1.5% of the traffic in their category.  Every reviewer is verified and every review is vetted before publication. Products are plotted on the TrustMap based on end-user data, including users’ likelihood to recommend scores as well as buyer research patterns.
