Corporate Learning Mangaement Systems

Corporate learning management systems (LMS) provides companies with access to eLeanring materials for training and development purposes. They can also be referred to as training management systems or eTraining / eLearning portals, and may have overlapping capabilities with some talent management solutions. Two main use cases for corporate LMS are internal (employee training) and external (customer training). Some common features that most corporate LMS provide include content authoring tools, a content library, learning pathway tools, scheduling features for online and offline events (e.g. trainings, workshops, webinars), course management tools, and progress reporting and analytics. Some corporate LMS also offer ecommerce/billing features and gamification tools such as leaderboards, point systems, and awards.

Along with corporate LMS products, there are also academic style learning management systems that are more geared towards the academic settings and may not be as appropriate for corporate use. However, there are a few examples of software that work well in both situations, such as Articulate Storyline, Brightspace, and Adobe Captivate. Buyers should keep this in mind when searching for a new corporate learning management solution

Articulate Storyline

Articulate Storyline, part of the Articulate 360 suite of learning management products, offers users the ability to work collaboratively to create customized elearning content. It includes features such as access to Articulate’s content and media library, course design templates, course collaboration tools, ability to design interactive content and media, a WYSIWYG editor, and assessment creation capabilities. A large portion (44%) of Articulate Storyline users on TrustRadius are from enterprise size organizations. Reviewers value Articulate Storyline’s intuitive user interface, ease of transition from PowerPoint to Articulate Storyline, ability to import content from PowerPoint, and wide array of features to build interactive course content.

PiiQ by Cornerstone

PiiQ by Cornerstone is a performance and learning management software that helps companies increase employee engagement and development. Employees can register and sign up for online courses and compliance trainings through PiiQ’s course library. PiiQ provides users with content authoring and publishing features, including collaboration tools and the ability to embed videos and other media in course content. Managers also have access to course monitoring tools such as course assignment, tracking, and progress reporting capabilities. The majority (58%) of PiiQ users on TrustRadius are from midsize businesses. Reviewers frequently highlight  PiiQ by Cornerstone’s excellent customer service, easy to administer courses, and course tracking & monitoring capabilities.

Adobe Captivate

Adobe Captivate is a learning management system that works well in both academic and corporate settings. With Adobe Captivate users can create new content, design interactive eLearning experiences such as quizzes and games, record webinars and video tutorials, and provide employees with engaging trainings and courses using virtual reality (VR) courses and headsets. Adobe Captivate also features course preview capabilities, HTML5 publishing for mobile learning, and the ability to import content from PowerPoint. Almost half (49%) of Adobe Captivate users on TrustRadius are from enterprises. Reviewers on TrustRadius note that Adobe Captivate is especially adept at creating interactive content and animations, easily integrates with other Adobe products, and is compatible with a number of third-party LMS products as well.

Cornerstone OnDemand

Cornerstone OnDemand is a talent management suite solution that includes a learning management module. It offers users features such as content authoring capabilities, a course library, social learning, assessment creation, compliance management, ability to track employee progress with learning analytics and reporting, and mobile device compatibility for mobile learning. As part of the full Cornerstone OnDemand suite, companies can easily integrate the learning management module with the other pieces of the platform. These include recruiting, performance, and HR products. A majority (58%) of Cornerstone OnDemand users on TrustRadius work for enterprise companies. Reviewers appreciate the level of customization they can achieve with Cornerstone OnDemand and the unified nature of the platform which enables them to manage every part of the employee lifecycle.

Top Rated Criteria

Products included in the 2019 Top Rated Corporate Learning Management System list must have been in the top tier of their category TrustMap as of March 15th, 2019. To qualify for the Corporate Learning Management System Top Rated Award, products must have at least 10 reviews written within the past year, a TRScore of at least 7.5 out of 10, and must receive at least 1.5% of the traffic in their category.  Every reviewer is verified and every review is vetted before publication.
