Announcing the Top Rated Data Warehouse Software for 2019

August 28th, 2019 4 min read

We are excited to announce the Top Rated Data Warehouse Software for 2019! Top Rated awards showcase today’s top-of-the-line products in Data Warehouse Software based solely on positive user feedback and satisfaction scores. These awards make the voice of the market the primary decider into the industry’s best products.

Top Rated awards are the most trusted in the industry because they are never influenced by analyst opinion, the vendor’s size, popularity, or status as a TrustRadius customer.

Here are the winners:

Snowflake

Snowflake TRScore | trustradius.com

Snowflake is a data-warehouse-as-a-service (DWaaS) product. It supports both structured and semi-structured data, such as CSV, XML, and JSON files. Snowflake scales efficiently, with separate resources for metadata processing and querying. Its pricing for computing, storage, and cloud services are also separated, helping customers fit the service to their needs. Snowflake offers multiple levels of data security, including support for HIPAA needs. A sizable majority (62%) of Snowflake users on TrustRadius are from midsize companies. Reviewers value the product’s zero-copy cloning feature, speed at large scales, and flexibility.

“Snowflake is great when you need to store large amounts of data while retaining the ability to query that data quickly. It is very reliable and allows for auto-scaling on large queries meaning that you’re only paying for the power you actually use.”

Amazon Redshift

Amazon Redshift TRScore | trustradius.com

Amazon Redshift is a data warehouse service designed to integrate with other products from Amazon Web Services (AWS). It uses machine learning, parallel processing, and cached results to optimize query speed. Automated backups and data replication help ensure reliability. Redshift extends queries directly to Amazon S3 data lakes. It also integrates with analytics products from AWS. Data encryption and isolation options help customers keep their data secure and confidential. A majority (59%) of Redshift users on TrustRadius are from midsize companies. Reviewers recommend Redshift for its no-fuss maintenance, support for large datasets, and parallel querying capability.

“Amazon Redshift is great for analytics, reporting, and complex queries for statistical modeling and machine learning. Its ability to run parallel queries in a simple SQL environment makes the transition from traditional DB very easy.”

Congratulations to the winners of the Top Rated Data Warehouse Software Award!

What is Data Warehouse Software?

Data warehouse software stores business data for analysis and decision-making. Unlike databases, data warehouses contain historical, unnormalized data. They are optimized for complex analytical queries instead of frequent transactions. Analysts, executives, and (often) ordinary employees can query the data warehouse to find trends, make predictions, and improve business practices. Data warehouse software can be linked to some business intelligence (BI) tools for data analysis.

Most data warehouse products are capable of loading and preparing data from a variety of formats and file types, such as JSON, Excel, and XML. Some products automatically optimize the structure of the warehouse as data is loaded and accessed. Cloud-based vendors often offer encryption and replication features to keep data secure and available. Data warehouses are often capable of querying data lakes. Some products include the features of both a data warehouse and a data lake, supporting both architectures.

Before buying data warehouse software, research and establish the benefits and use cases for your business. It’s important to know what data you plan to track and why. Your business’s size and resources should also factor in to the decision. For businesses with fewer resources and customization needs, a DWaaS vendor could save valuable time and money. Businesses with more resources and stricter requirements may get more value from an onsite solution.

Top Rated Criteria

Products included in the 2019 Top Rated Data Warehouse Software list must have been in the top tier of their category TrustMap as of August 1st, 2019. To qualify for the Data Warehouse Software Top Rated Award, products must have at least 10 reviews written within the past year, a TRScore of at least 7.5 out of 10, and must receive at least 1.5% of the traffic in their category.  Every reviewer is verified and every review is vetted before publication. Products are plotted on the TrustMap based on end-user data, including users’ likelihood to recommend scores as well as buyer research patterns.
