From AgileBits, 1Password  provides users with a ‘master password’ that stores and protects all of their other passwords and credentials information, that way, users only need to remember one password. 1Password has pricing plans for individuals, families or small teams, and can be  packaged with advanced features for complex work groups and large enterprises. Some of these advanced features include fine-grain access control to individual share vaults, auditable activity log with usage reporting, provisioning via Active Directory, and integrations for additional functionality (e.g. multi-factor authentication). The majority of 1Password users on TrustRadius are primarily employed in small business (58%). Users praise the ease with which they can set up very strong and secure passwords and access (and allow others access to) file vaults and sometimes third-party apps.

What is Password Manager Software?

Password manager software is used across businesses of all sizes to secure access to applications and sensitive systems accessed by employees and contractors. While managing password security, password managers also provide convenience and controls to limit or facilitate sharing access to protected apps and files. This involves auto-generating and securely storing unique, highly secure passwords to access individual systems. Employees and others may then be provided with access to enterprise apps through a vault accessed via a single master password. Having a master password allows companies to share credentials across multiple employees, and also makes remembering login information easier for the employees.

This vault can be shared by the employee as needed or deleted by an administrator when it is no longer needed. While supplying convenience, password managers also provide administrator controls through customizable access and sharing permissions for individuals and teams, and access revocation for employee off-boarding. On enterprise-level service plans, password managers provide an administrator view for managing groups of users and their credentials, and can generate auditable access reports. Additional features of password manager software available via integration or service-level upgrade include SAML single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication options, directory integration with federated login and automated provisioning, and data breach alert service.
