Announcing the Top Rated Corporate Learning Management Systems for 2018

February 14th, 2018 7 min read

Today, we awarded the 2018 TrustRadius Top Rated badges for Corporate Learning Management Systems. The TrustRadius Top Rated awards are unique in that they are an unbiased reflection of customer sentiment, based solely on user satisfaction scores. They are not influenced by analyst opinion, the vendor’s company size, popularity, site traffic, or status as a TrustRadius customer.

Corporate Learning software caters to internal (employee) and/or external (customer) training. Some products in this category are designed for distribution of content, engagement tracking, and reporting, while other products allow users to create or customize content. Other Corporate Learning tools provide a library of pre-made content and assessments for particular industries, technologies, or certifications. The best fit for your company will depend on factors like the size of your training department, resources available to create custom content, frequency of training, subject matter, and type of employees being trained. Reviews from business leaders, trainers/content authors, managers, and employees can provide the full range of perspectives on these products, from how easy it is to update courses and how well they track compliance, to how engaging courses are for trainees.

Here are the winners:

Overall Top Rated

Articulate Storyline

Articulate Storyline empowers individual managers and trainers to create interactive e-learning courses, with screencasts, simulations, quizzes, etc. Users are particularly satisfied with the versatility of Articulate Storyline (different media types, branching logic, personalization) tools that allow them to design engaging training content fairly easily.

“The software simulation is great. The trigger system is quite easy to use and can produce some great effects to make a course more engaging. It is very handy for compliance courses where initial interest levels are often very low.”

Todd Wheeler | Business Systems Training Officer | Legal Aid NSW

Articulate 360

Articulate 360 encompasses all of Articulate’s tools, including the latest versions of Articulate Storyline and Articulate Studio, in an online subscription-based platform. With the extensive index of authoring tools, Articulate 360 works best for those constantly needing to create new and sophisticated training courses. According to reviewers, the Rise tools to design mobile/responsive content and the Review features for QAing new learning content are particularly useful additions to the suite.

“If you are looking for a suite of tools to support every type of eLearning development that you could imagine, look no further. Articulate 360 supports PowerPoint native course creation in Studio 360, Rapid eLearning Development with robust configuration and interactivity options in Storyline 360, a responsive drag-and-drop creation tool in Rise, and a time-saving godsend of a review tool in Articulate Review. The mere fact that Articulate throws a huge content library on top of that is incredible icing on the cake.

Pluralsight

Pluralsight is a Corporate Learning Management System that offers an extensive library of courses, discussions, exercises, and skill assessments. It is used by both individual IT employees and teams to gain a better understanding of new technologies as they come out, along with building new skills. User reviews highlight the extent of the course library and the engaging nature of the courses themselves, which include videos/lectures from experts.

“Pluralsight gives us a central location to receive training on technologies we need to be familiar with in order to effectively serve our clients or business.”

Donovon Carter | Service Desk Analyst | Dexcom

lynda.com

LinkedIn’s lynda.com offers a library of business, technology, and creative courses for professionals and corporate teams. lynda.com’s courses have a learn-at-your-own-pace format. Reviewers highlight the high-quality practice exercises, and organized user interface (which allows them to bookmark their progress and find other relevant material easily), as a few of the platform’s strengths.

“Their site is well designed, easy to administer, and it is easy to track learning paths. […] lynda.com chooses knowledgeable instructors, who still have personality. The curriculum is well organized, with usable download examples.”

Rocky Banks | IT Operations Manager | Regional Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC)

GreenLight (SilkRoad Learning)

GreenLight is the corporate LMS component of SilkRoad’s HR and talent management Life Suite. It’s focused on employee onboarding and internal training, with features that include an employee learning portal, course catalog management, learning assessments, enrollment management, and compliance dashboards. Reviewers like the ability to administer training assignments based on criteria like role, certification deadlines, etc. and the ability to report on compliance at a high level.

“GreenLight allows us to deliver training to employees based on the role they serve in the organization (nurses, physicians, clerical staff, etc.) […] The system works well to deliver modules to employees at all of our locations and the reporting feature allows for easy tracking of training compliance.”

Kevin Wright | Director of Organizational Learning | McLeod Health

ITProTV

ITProTV takes a different approach to corporate learning, with an expanding library of IT training content including certification courses and general tech skills. Reviewers say the training content is engaging and in-depth, with interactive Labs that reinforce training.

I have used other IT learning services, but the material was dry. I can tell the presenters really care about IT and helping people learn. The training has a good mixture of explanation, theory, and showing screenshots/demonstrations. If you like to learn by visual and demonstration, ITProTV is a perfect mix. It is good for entry level to the more advanced technical experience.”

George Schneider | Intake Technician | Switchfast Technologies

Articulate Studio

Another offering from Articulate Studio offers users the ability to transform PowerPoint slides into a more engaging training presentation. Users highlight the convenience of the quizmaker features and suggest using Articulate Studio when quick development and the ability to maintain content easily is needed.

Easy to use. Articulate Studio is based on PowerPoint so no advanced technical competencies are required. It is a great tool for rapid learning content development. […] Use it when your development time is short, your budget is low or when you know that the learning content will have to be updated soon or very often.”
