Announcing the Top Rated Web Conferencing Software for 2018

February 9th, 2018 6 min read

Today, we awarded the 2018 TrustRadius Top Rated badges for Web Conferencing Software. The TrustRadius Top Rated awards are unique in that they are an unbiased reflection of customer sentiment, based solely on user satisfaction scores. They are not influenced by analyst opinion, the vendor’s company size, popularity, site traffic, or status as a TrustRadius customer.

Web conferencing software allows companies to conduct business remotely and are particularly helpful for companies that have customers and employees all around the country or globe. Web conferencing software often goes beyond video conferencing, extending into presentations, or webinars, recording, and collaboration. Audio and video quality, reliability, scalability, and ease of use–especially for participants joining a call from outside the organization–are major considerations for buyers, but they can be difficult to assess before implementing a web conferencing system. Feedback from users at other similar organizations allow buyers to get a sense of performance and usability ahead of time, so they can make a more confident decision about which product will work best for them.

Here are the winners:

Overall Top Rated

Zoom

Zoom allows for online meetings while simultaneously enabling collaboration and file sharing. Reviewers highlight the strong video quality for teams of all sizes and the simplicity of the UX as two of Zoom’s best features.

Due to minimal technical issues, we can quickly jump on a Zoom call with employees for quick questions or on-the-fly meetings. We can also easily set up customer calls using the Zoom Scheduler Chrome extension. […] Our customers have loved Zoom as well because it just works! Most of our customers use other web conference tools, and they’re always pleasantly surprised at how easy Zoom is to install and use.”

Michael Kim | Usability Research Recruiter | UserTesting

Lifesize

Lifesize has a unique offering, with both cloud-based video conferencing software and HD hardware to match. The system is designed to have a personal touch with name-based dialing and is scalable with up to 50 live participants for HD video. Because of the hardware offerings, user reviews consistently point to the high-quality video resolution and connection.

“The call quality is exceptional. Before Lifesize, we used another brand and their call quality was underwhelming. When we installed our first Lifesize devices, the call quality blew us away. It’s as close to being in the same room as you can get without actually being there.”

WebEx Meetings

WebEx Meetings comes from one of the leaders in communication technology – Cisco. Users can choose to dial-in, join via VoIP, or have the system call them, and in-meeting tools include recording, screen sharing, white boarding, polls, and more. Reviewers point to ease of access (even for international participants), session recording, and screen/application/ document sharing as some of WebEx’s strengths.

“Provides direct access to our employees in Spain. Allows us to contact customers to troubleshoot issues.[…] WebEx Meetings is perfectly suited for having any and every kind of meeting necessary. You can have multiple screens visible so everyone can have a video feed as well as options for phone or computer dial in. Also, it is so easy to set up and get started.”

BlueJeans

BlueJeans offers web conferencing and UCaaS solutions for internal teams and large client bases alike. The web conferencing platform provides multi-vendor, multi-device interoperability with both browser and mobile integration. In addition to benefiting from BlueJeans’ interoperability, reviewers highlight its calendar integration, reliability, and ease of access.

“With the Premium account it is possible to use the dial in calls feature in almost every country. Very easy to use, intuitive and fast. […] It can easily be adopted beside existing solutions such as Polycom or Cisco VC Systems. Interoperability is great, you can easily switch from video conference to phone dial in within the same meeting.”

Join.me

Join.me, from LogMeIn, is targeted at small and midsize businesses, with a focus on simplicity. Users can dial-in with a code, join on the desktop app, or login within their browser. Even with its simplicity, user reviews highlight the customizable interface, which is useful for branding, and the ability to set up personalized meeting links that are easy to remember.

“Simple deployment, ad-hoc sessions, and scheduling capabilities make it an ideal medium. Its customization features for our company branding provide a unique user experience setting it apart from other similar technologies.”

Blackboard Collaborate

Blackboard Collaborate offers a web conferencing software solution for educational institutions. The tool is browser-based and integrates with the Blackboard Learn LMS, the primary offering from the company. According to user reviews, the software is well suited not only for online lectures, class discussions, and tutoring sessions, but also for training environments.

“It is typically used for office hours for our online instructors, handling virtual training sessions our team administers to our faculty, and other times people on our campus may want to meet virtually. Collaborate is also an easy way to have a guest speaker join a classroom remotely. Collaborate Ultra is integrated with our LMS (Blackboard, though they support other integrations), so essentially there is no setup involved for the faculty member. Students just click a link, type in their name, and they are able to join the session, simple as that. Smartphones and tablets are also supported.”
