I think 10000ft is good for bare minimum project monitoring, we used it a large company because we didn't need to have exact numbers - it was just a rough idea to see where freelance resources were over burning. If, however you work a much smaller company and really need to know detailed information it's not as effective, there are many other software options that really allow for much closer and precise tracking. I would recommend 10000ft for companies that just need to monitor large freelance teams, track hours and higher level projects that are also monitored on other project management tools. It's a tool I would only use in conjunction with something else.

Accelo

Accelo is excellent when you have multiple clients, and you need to get a handle on not just the time spent on clients, but also where your employees are spending (or not spending) their time. It doesn't turn you into a micro-manager; it merely gives owners or management a more unobstructed view on where any issues are. However, Accelo has a LOT of work to do to clean up what should be a straightforward process of emailing. Communication is incredibly important, and there are so many bugs as previously listed to workout. This is our 2nd year with Accelo, and I currently have three open tickets with them regarding issues with email. The upside is that they might get to the point where these issues are no longer issues anymore, but that day is not today. Today is Jan 16, 2020, by the way.

  • Operational forecast and bring it up in a very visual manner.

Accelo

  • Tracking customer interactions. Nice integration with G Suite, could be a lot better if they acknowledged that contacts may actually have more than one email address.
  • Support Ticket system is integrated, so we can view support history and other email correspondence easily. It's cheaper that Zendesk.
  • Support is reasonably good, usually prompt and responsive.
  • Constant development - lots of updates, just not often to areas that we use.

  • It's often confusing to use and find things, I sometimes find it to be a little counterintuitive as to where functions are (e.g. for tracking budgets and pulling reports).
  • When pulling a budget I always struggled to comb through the large amounts of data and time inputted. When I select a filter the page often wouldn't refresh or i'd forget to de-select a filter as it wasn't in an obvious place, which sometimes left me with pulling an incorrect budget.
  • The data is only as good as the people entering the time. Often with so many small tasks people would enter time incorrectly, in the wrong milestone or project. It lists all of your projects on one page, so it's not easy to enter it and there's a lot of room for error.

Accelo

  • The client portal needs to be improved. It does not have the same user interface as we have within Accelo and we get a lot of client complaints about it.
  • It needs more executive-style reporting and the ability to create your own reports and filters.
  • It needs to be faster. With all of the things Accelo is doing to give you all the data, it is kind of slow compared to other systems in the browser.

I think there's limited uses for the tool and much more comprehensive options out there for multiple tools in one. With more people working remotely, it's hard to just use email and face to face, in some ways you need to have a tool that's a fall back and a record of where you are + where you're going

They have been super responsive every time we need them. We built ourselves some integrations with other internal systems, and whenever we needed clarification or help to complete said integrations, they were super responsive. They have a very technical background which makes it super easy to work with when you present to them technical challenges regarding integrations or the use of their API.

I give a five because sometimes it's excellent and fast, but other times I have to follow up after days of not hearing anything. Then you're switched between agents trying to figure out the problem. Many of them don't look through the entire list of communications, so you either have to explain it all again, or you find yourself doing the same testing you just did with a previous agent.

Although an interesting tool, compared to Basecamp or Workfront, 10000ft really struggles on the collaboration aspect of the tool. It's great for the bare minimum, recording hours and pulling a budget, but we also relied on email for collaboration and face to face meetings - which is no bad thing! Although for big companies and small projects it's nice to have everything all in one tool so there's less jumping and room for error. That would be my recommendation for any company evaluating it

Accelo doesn't really exceed any competitors in any one area of their product, but in 2015 when we made the move this was the best option that included all the tools we wanted. However, user adoption was low in some areas due to the UI, so we scaled back Accelo and added other tools.

Accelo

  • Helps with tracking prospects through the sales/marketing funnel
  • Has led some employees to stop using the tool and going back to spreadsheets. When trying to attach targets to tags you need to do so individually and if you upload a large list you need to do this manually, one by one, and requires a lot of time. So people have gone back to spreadsheets where they could simply just cut and paste new people in.
