It's best used in customer service, esp for those encountering similar interactions from time to time. Also, you can totally use it to seek opinions from relevant users on a matter regarding your business, the tool is perfect for engaging and crowd-sourcing.

Laserfiche

At its core, Laserfiche replaces paper, and any process where paper documents are printed, filled in, passed around, and stored is perfect for Laserfiche. While expensive, Laserfiche can provide a cost savings by replacing printers, copiers, scanners, paper, ink, and tasks that involve repetitious paper shuffling. It also does a good job of integrating with other systems through the workflow tool. It's not meant to replace purpose built software. You can't replace an accounting system or EMR with Laserfiche, though you can use laserfiche to store long term records from those systems, and automate paper based processes coming from those systems.

Pros

  • The smart clustering works wonder and will help you loads in managing a huge number of mentions everyday or reaching out to people who might be interested in your product. The tool cleverly groups similar tweets together even though they don't match word by word. It saves me time everyday responding to tweets with similar content. The nice thing about it is you can customize your responses so you don't sound like a machine, thus the personal touch is still there.
  • 12mass is the only tool that allows you to measure your responses against stipulated metrics like engagement rate, click-through rate and so on, so you know which responses are best welcome by the audience
  • The system gets smarter as you use it, which speeds up the conversations even further.

  • It's very good at giving a wide range of options for importing and exporting data, the Windows Client software alone can pull files from a windows folder, has a software printer to print documents into Laserfiche instead of to paper, has Office integration, the ability to pull photos from cameras, and has a scanner component.
  • Laserfiche Workflow is an automation tool that is very flexible and powerful, and allows a wide range of options for automating document flows and procedures.
  • Laserfiche is very good at communicating with other systems, though some systems, like big iron minicomputers, take some extra work and effort. Setting up integrations with SQL server databases are as simple as any complex IT procedure can get.

Cons

  • The system is rather bulky and can be complicated for new users to get familiarized with at first. There are a lot of tools to refine your search, which takes a while to understand the logic.
  • It can be a bit slow at times and you'll need to refresh the system and type the search again.
  • Would love to see the statistics being present in a more comprehensive way with a dialog decision tree drawn out.

  • When importing a color pdf I have to change a setting so the pictures import in color. Otherwise, the pictures import in black and white. It would be nice if it automatically recognized color and adjusted as necessary.
  • The casual user of Laserfiche gets confused when Searching and often ends up with a lot of documents that match a key word. If the left rail of the Search engine was more user friendly I think the casual/infrequent users would feel better about using this database.

We have a very good relationship with Laserfiche and our VAR (MCCi). We see no reason to consider a new product when Laserfiche meets all of our needs.

Again, is an excellent product but I always feel it is wise to be aware of what improvement can be made as customers give recommendations and engineers come up with new ideas. It is a plus that Laserfiche is forward thinking.

I am very satisfied with Laserfiche. I have found that certain larger jobs may are slow. This may also be related to our infrastructure environment. We have been able to tune Laserfiche to increase performance on larger jobs.

Maybe its a small company and they don't have too many customers, but they always reply quickly and to the point. This saves me time and allows me to make money for my company :)

Good overall. Some inquires could not be resolved or they were pushed to the next release which made it difficult at times to figure out a work around, but it was great to know that they listen to their clients and are willing to enhance the product as requested.

Easily accessible 24/7 so am able to complete courseware whenever time allows: Commute to work; waiting for friends or family; at night while relaxing [with a delicious glass of wine!]; whenever and wherever time and circumstances permit.Courseware is well written and presented in an easy to follow and understand format.

Alternatives Considered

Hootsuite is great in managing multiple platforms but it's not exactly a conversation tool. I would say Hootsuite for management, 12mass for engagement.

Laserfiche is much faster and the optical character recognition is more accurate than Adobe Acrobat Capture. It took approximately 4 times as long to scan and store a document in Acrobat Capture as in Laserfiche. Reviewing every scan was essential in Adobe Acrobat Capture because when using monospaced fonts it put spaces in between each letter on many check and invoice numbers.

Return on Investment

  • Better customer service and more interactions on twitter for sure! I've seen a huge jump in the interactions since I started using the product. Also, I've established a lot of connections with influencers by asking meaningful questions.
  • It definitely saves time, I don't think you can ever engage with that many people manually.
  • More people are trying our products as we find a fit between their needs and our offerings through engaging with them on Twitter.

  • We have much better customer service because vendors can be paid much more quickly when I receive a statement and realize that an invoice has not been paid and pull it up quickly in Laserfiche and resend it to the Department Head.
  • Eliminating storage in my office of all paper invoices and check stubs has saved a great deal of work filing and maintaining the file storage cabinets. Which has allowed me to have greater production on other items.
  • Being able to locate a scan and e-mail it to Auditors, customers or Department Heads has saved a great deal of paper.
