15Five is well suited for businesses/groups that are transparent, and willing to share information. If an organization was not a place where information is freely shared, it would not be helpful. Although, it could improve the level of transparency, as members of the organization could have space where they feel comfortable to share information. There are several different privacy settings within the each 15Five, so users can choose what they want to share. Also, it's best to make sure you/your organization has the time to use 15Five. It can be time-consuming for users, but also for those reviewing employees 15Five. It can be a lot of information to sift through. However, the layout of the software is easy to engage with and digest, which is helpful! Additionally, it's important to share with the team how 15Five works, and why it's being utilized. Depending on the questions that are set up within the software, it would seem a bit invasive to some. However, if a clear expectation is set prior to use 15Five, this may not be an issue.

The need for real-time updates and adjustments is imperative in the world of human resources.Less Appropriate: The app is currently not up to par and would be a great asset once they update and release more features.

  • Flexibility to set your questions by company/team/individual.
  • It is a weekly reporting platform that also has the functionality to do end of year reviews. Having continuity makes the end of year process much more streamlined.
  • Allows individuals to set, report and record progress on weekly goals. These users can then go back later and review these goals and progress throughout the year.

  • Base Compensation Module runs smoothly and is efficient.
  • The Platinum Support Reps are invaluable. Expensive but worth every penny. They work with you on a daily basis to support your individual company needs and keep you abreast of the updates and changes that will help you use SF to its fullest potential.
  • It is a powerful suite of modules that has the potential to provide an integrated soup to nuts HR solution.

Cons

  • The interface to set up the question frequency is a bit confusing.
  • The 360-degree review functionality is relatively new so there are still some kinks to work out on this part of the product.

  • Occasionally you'll see some inconsistencies. For instance, on our review form (Revolution interface) all of the ratings are provided on a sleek, graphical 5-star rating. You click on the star that corresponds to the rating that you want to give to the employee. This is true for Goals and Competencies, yet for someone reason the Overall Form rating at the bottom is a picklist from a dropdown menu, not the same graphical stars. The scale is the same, it just makes you scratch your head a little bit as to why they didn't make them all the same. Works perfectly fine, just a little odd. This sort of thing isn't unusual.
  • The SuccessFactors implementation team is typically not as good as some of their more pricey outside vendors, especially if you get an engineer that does not speak English as a native language. We did our first implementation with a SuccessFactors guide and he was much better at telling us everything that we could do, not necessarily what we wanted to do. We ended up with a highly customized (really more like re-purposed/rigged) system that wasn't very intuitive. It did everything that we had asked for, just not very well and had we known that we wouldn't have asked! We did several other implementations with Aasonn that went fabulously. They were much better at saying, "yes, you could configure it that way...but this will be how it looks and it will have ____ negative effect." For our last change to the Revolution UI we went back in-house thinking our experience would help the process. I'm sure it did, but it was still a struggle for things that Aasonn would have handled much more easily.

I don't have any say into whether or not the client will renew the use [of SuccessFactors]. However, they will renew it if they feel that candidates want to apply to the system. Some candidates give up applying to a position because it is too difficult and they get frustrated with the application

The goals module could be a little more straightforward in terms of aligning and linking goals. The employee central is relatively new, so it's been a little buggy and we've had to use workarounds. However, overall I am very satisfied.

If you had asked me before the summer, I would have rated them 10/10 for up time. I am not sure if it was due to the SAP acquisition or not, but we had quite a few significant issues over the summer. Their servers have been bombarded. I know they are setting up new data centers, so some of these issues are supposed to go away. We have had more downtime than I think is acceptable, especially based on past performance.

We had some slow downs in last 6 months because of the server issues. They were experiencing load balancing issues. In previous years we have not had problems. We do batch our appraisals into one time at the end of our fiscal year which is June.

I would rate the support for Employee Central much higher - 9/10. It is a new product and they want people to be successful. For other modules, tech support is abysmal. They made some changes over the summer and last fall and it was really challenging. Their people did not understand the product and they would take an eternity to get back to you. They would make changes that effected other areas of product and they were not aware of it

In reference to the implementation of Employee Central, the consultants were less familiar with certain aspects of product as it's new. I would have liked them to have better handle on all aspects of product as there were some things we had to go back and change. They were however helpful and open to discussion all the time. They were very accessible to us.

We looked at Oracle/PeopleSoft, iVantage, SAP and Workday.
Success Factors was only one we looked at for both performance and compensation management.

We felt Workday was very good for HRIS, but that iVantage (our current system) was adequate in that area and Workday would have been cost prohibitive. We felt that the compensation and performance management capabilities of Workday don’t hold a candle to Success Factors.

Return on Investment

  • 15Five is one of my favorite tools. It has allowed us to keep track of the general morale of the business and to address small issues before they became large issues
  • It has also allowed us to streamline our review process, making everybody's life easier!

  • We didn’t do an ROI projection on it when we bought it. We typically do not do broad ROIs on investments like this.
  • In this case, we were looking at cost avoidance - we had one person doing compensation in the company - and employee satisfaction. The head of HR was saying that we need to hire an additional person or put in place tools. We have avoided the need to hire another person and employee satisfaction is good.
  • The issue is with managers with large bodies of employees, the focus is compensation management primarily, more than performance management.
  • It is an expensive application.
