It's really user preference. Some people have been told by other colleagues that it's a great system to use so they want to go with that. There are other systems that do exactly the same thing. I have not found that 1ShoppingCart has any unique features that would lead me to persuade a client to use it over another one. I usually have clients look at two or three options and give feedback. Sometimes it comes down to monthly prices.

Custora

I think Custora is a great fit for B2C companies that are trying to take their relationship marketing programs to the next level and outside of basic segmentation. It's a great platform to consolidate all customer, order history, and campaign history type data into one platform to obtain a 360 degree view of the customer.Additionally I would say, if an organization is resource constrained from an analytics perspective, the platform also makes great sense to invest in. It provides out of the box predictive analytics, and custom lifecycle triggers to align a retention marketing program around. Outside of the upfront work to get the platform up and running, it's very marketer friendly to utilize

Pros

  • Email broadcasts are super easy with 1ShoppingCart
  • Affiliate set up and management is easy

  • Very clean user interface that allows a non-technical marketer to set up detailed segments for outbound marketing campaigns
  • Lifecycle triggers that are automatically programmed to set up triggered campaigns. One of the big benefits here is that they are individualized based off of a cusotmer's past purchase patterns
  • Reporting and analytics dashboards are great and allow a team that is resource constrained to quickly gauge status of customer retention

Cons

  • I found their customer service team to be confusing with their responses and not as helpful as other products customer service teams. It can be frustrating to try to decipher their responses to more complicated questions and often felt a little 'annoying' whenever I needed to reach out.
  • When creating newsletters, I found the WYSIWYG (what you see if what you get) version of creating newsletters the formatting was almost always off which always resulted in needing to send tests to myself to fix the formatting because it never showed up as it would look when it was sent. That took a lot of extra time to edit.
  • Lots of different options with reports, as a beginner you may need someone else to support you. In the beginning I needed support from other team members in how to understand and create certain reports. Not the most intuitive and user friendly until you understand what you're doing!

  • Currently there are limitations with the number of personas that can be built in the instance, it would be great to have more flexibility here
  • We occasionally see issues with lists delivered to our ESP from the platform. Not a major problem, but could be an area of improvement

If I were in charge of the renewal decision I would really take a look at 1SC vs. Infusionsoft. There are many ways each are great and many ways they are different. I would look at what was best for my company and make the choice accordingly. I find that Infusionsoft has many more ways to intuitively market, segment and cultivate new leads and grow the business as a whole than 1SC currently has.

Alternatives Considered

Again, it's the client that usually selects the system they want to use. I think 1ShoppingCart has lower monthly payment options so that makes it more appealing. Infusionsoft has a $2k payment that must be made in order to use their product

Bluecore was a solid platform, but Custora is differentiated in that it provides individualized triggers for customers based on their past purchase history
