I would say if you have a staff that's already experienced in the 24SevenOffice program that would be best. People who are brand new to it will have too much time ramping up and training. Also, you'd better have a rock-solid network infrastructure if you want success with this program. A business with less tech-savvy workers just wouldn't work.

If ActiTime works on getting more integrations, there are lots of opportunities like notifications from Slack to managers, contractors or employees regarding missing deadlines and time tracking. It has a great UI but it's been the same for a while now, I believe the whole reporting module can be modernized. It's a great tool for software development services, or any contractor/employee really, it is as good as the data that'a been put into it, so it takes an effort to make sure the complete staff enters comments and hours properly.

  • Invoicing is a strength. The invoices produced are clear, correct and legible.
  • We have found some decent time-saving solutions within its project management suite, including an excellent task organizer.
  • Installation of the software is a snap due to the cloud solution.

  • Reporting is awesome! Easy to put together custom reports and then export them. Real-time reports.
  • Check out all its brilliant integrations.
  • It lets you upload your company logo in the tool.
  • Managing users, clients, projects, and tasks is easy and the UX makes data input fluent and smooth.
  • There's a mobile app, it's limited, but there is one.
  • Reports dashboard: you can save your favorite custom reports for easy access.
  • Estimations vs actual reports and email notifications are brilliant for keeping an eye on projects.

Cons

  • Unfortunately, usability is a major issue at times. I hear complaints about dropped network traffic, and it's not our infrastructure.
  • The interface is confusing. We have to train new employees with a lot of detailed instructions which shouldn't be necessary.
  • We have had to pay for any support on the above issues.

  • Integrations, integrations, integrations. Please at least add Slack and Jira!
  • I believe there is no Quickbooks integration for Mac, is there? We can only use it with windows and mostly use Macs.

Alternatives Considered

We selected 24SevenOffice because the vendor made a lot of promises and demos related to network uptime and features. None of this ended up being exactly correct in real life. I have never used any other PM software so I can't really speak to how it compares in a lot of those ways.

Return on Investment

  • We were using a fairly similar program from an ROI perspective previously so I can't say it's had a big effect.
  • That said the network issues represent lost hours/money.
  • The added training is also expensive.

  • We can estimate projects, track them and create reports so we can have visibility of tasks and budget. It's so easy.
  • It allows us to justify labor by attaching ActiTime reports to our invoices for actual worked hours.
  • We're guarded: labor is justified and documented, in case of escalations or postmortem investigations.
