Compared to other options, we found that 250ok had a good balance of features for the price, continual improvements and new features, and an actual support system. 250ok is a perfect platform for an SMB to use to actively monitor their email deliverability and identify areas where they could improve to reach their lists.

To be absolutely honest, I don't see why anyone would choose Maropost over the hundreds of other ESPs that are available. For e-commerce especially, there are so many more options with better functionality and features. For media wherein the goal is to drive traffic and simply send.an.email. nearly any other ESP would suffice.I couldn't even recommend Maropost based on price as it is not cheap at all. It is very bare bones, and for the price, you could likely find something more premium.

  • They provide a wide-ranging tool to view your email templates in many different email clients under different circumstances. We used this tool to identify specific issues we couldn't test that a small subset of users had complained about.
  • The Seedlist Optimizer Tool does the legwork for you to identify which ESPs are used the most and gives you a custom seed list for testing.
  • The Campaign Diagnostics report shows immediate feedback after sending on how your email is performing and where you can improve in the future.

Cons

250ok

  • Within the 250ok dashboard, there are a few different types of tracking and monitoring tools that aren't explained well within the product. Their uses were explained during onboarding but we continue to go back to the self-help to confirm best practices. I hope they work on more contextual help to improve this experience.
  • While the product does work if you have shared IP addresses, it took us some time after launch to filter out other's email data that get included during monitoring.

  • Reporting is awful, the metrics shown in the dashboard are not helpful, and to glean any useful information users need to export the reports manually. There is no attrition reporting at all.
  • Segmentation takes a really long time. If you want to construct multiple audiences, good luck. It takes forever.
  • UI is not intuitive. Many buttons are placed too closely or in the wrong places.
  • There is no true "test send" feature. Any opens or clicks recorded from the test (while QA-ing proofs, for example) will be recorded.

Alternatives Considered

250ok

After using Litmus for a few years, we enjoyed their feature set but were not pleased with price and feature changes. Email on Acid was a good choice for testing your email templates but didn't have enough features for email deliverability monitoring.Between Return Path and 250ok, we were interested in the whitelisting that Return Path offered, but could not get dedicated IP addresses required by them to move forward.

  • Using 250ok, we were able to identify problem areas with specific email clients that we couldn't test manually (really old ones). Once solved, reactivated lapsed customers.

Maropost

  • Lack of data and information about our users that we can use to get smarter in our segmentation hurts us in that we lose branded deals or partnerships.
  • Takes too much time to export reports and gain attrition reporting information, manually preparing reports is not a good use of time for anyone on our team.
