250ok

250ok is a great tool for companies that have recently switched ESPs to monitor inbox placement or for companies that historically have been having email deliverability issues and would like to learn about the root cause and improve. Unlike ReturnPath, 250ok doesn't offer certification, but honestly, you don't need certification if you follow the Gmail/Microsoft/AOL/Yahoo bulk sender guidelines. I haven't seen a company which significantly improved their results with that certification and I've been working for one major ESP for 7 years. 250ok is a good diagnostic/monitoring tool but it is not a panacea for those who continue to violate sender guidelines due to poor list/content management.

Mautic Marketing Automation

Mautic is a great tool, especially for rookies starting to use an automation tool. It has been very helpful in landing us great prospects that become clients. Once you get the hang of it, there is nothing Mautic cannot do. Great for massive mailing, campaign builder is really easy, and the forms construction is bliss. We would recommend Mautic all the way.

Mautic Marketing Automation

  • Forms are very intuitive, you don't need to be a geek, anyone can use Mautic.
  • Campaign Builder is very reliable, fast, and easy to use—you have so many features to choose from.
  • Emailing with just a single touch, you can set your campaigns to lunch whenever you want, A/B testing is really easy, a few customizable templates.

  • Documentation website could use some improvement (i.e. Search on the API Guide page, videos in the User Guide).
  • Can't copy/paste certain things from the UI (i.e. IP ranges).
  • Doesn't integrate directly with some ESPs although it's easy to just use new seed lists.

  • Both the email and landing WYSIWYG was flawed, ran into errors and glitches.
  • Form actions were lacking, and simple automation from forms was problematic.
  • Focus items were buggy on Mautic landing pages... had to add through Javascript, and caused issues on the page.

Alternatives Considered

250ok

We use both 250ok and ReturnPath in the company (because we're an ESP) and both have their own pros and cons. Return Path uses panel data while 250ok uses recipients' engagement date for reporting. Both ways have pros and cons but you can't say one is better than the other. They're just different. ReturnPath also offers certification which (I have to be honest) is not as relevant anymore as there is only one way to fix deliverability issues nowadays - by following bulk sender guidelines posted by Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Microsoft, and other ISPs. ReturnPath has a better documentation website while 250ok could use some refinement. With 250ok you can choose the tools you need and build your own package and save money. With ReturnPath - not so much. 250ok also has partners across the globe while ReturnPath mostly promotes its own services and consultants.

Mautic Marketing Automation

Mautic is the new kid on the block, bred from an open source product, we chose to purchase the hosted/supported version. I felt like it stacked up very well against Act-On and even Pardot. I like their data API push and pull with Salesforce - very quick, and the queue was synchronous and we never ran into problems with it. I think compared to Eloque and Marketo, it's definitely lacking features, although much easier to bite off and chew with a small team. We displaced Mautic with Marketo, but mainly because we needed more on the automation and integrations side of things. I think they will continue to make strides, especially on the integrations they have and support. Given how quickly they've come on the scene and have been competitive, I expect to continue to see great things from these guys. Even though we moved onward (we're a fast-growing software company), I would still recommend them!

Mautic Marketing Automation

  • Quickly saw tie-ins to web traffic, email analytics, form and landing page conversions - helped better measure individual marketing campaigns.
  • Slowed us down on the automation side - some pieces had to be implemented through Salesforce automation. Took time and effort!
  • Simple - easy to set up and integrate with Salesforce. Had this finished within a day, so we were able to start seeing results immediately.
