250ok

250ok is a great tool for companies that have recently switched ESPs to monitor inbox placement or for companies that historically have been having email deliverability issues and would like to learn about the root cause and improve. Unlike ReturnPath, 250ok doesn't offer certification, but honestly, you don't need certification if you follow the Gmail/Microsoft/AOL/Yahoo bulk sender guidelines. I haven't seen a company which significantly improved their results with that certification and I've been working for one major ESP for 7 years. 250ok is a good diagnostic/monitoring tool but it is not a panacea for those who continue to violate sender guidelines due to poor list/content management.

Zoho Campaigns

It is very well suited to get the traffic on our social media platforms and our website. It is very helpful in interacting with subscribers on those social media platforms. It establishes client engagement. I didn't find it well suited in transnational emails. It did not give satisfactory results.

  • They provide a wide-ranging tool to view your email templates in many different email clients under different circumstances. We used this tool to identify specific issues we couldn't test that a small subset of users had complained about.
  • The Seedlist Optimizer Tool does the legwork for you to identify which ESPs are used the most and gives you a custom seed list for testing.
  • The Campaign Diagnostics report shows immediate feedback after sending on how your email is performing and where you can improve in the future.

  • Documentation website could use some improvement (i.e. Search on the API Guide page, videos in the User Guide).
  • Can't copy/paste certain things from the UI (i.e. IP ranges).
  • Doesn't integrate directly with some ESPs although it's easy to just use new seed lists.

  • All emails sent by Zoho Campaigns go to spam.
  • Their customer service, although easy to reach, will never actually take responsibility for any issues.
  • Dozens of features they pitch as active features do not exist.

Alternatives Considered

250ok

We use both 250ok and ReturnPath in the company (because we're an ESP) and both have their own pros and cons. Return Path uses panel data while 250ok uses recipients' engagement date for reporting. Both ways have pros and cons but you can't say one is better than the other. They're just different. ReturnPath also offers certification which (I have to be honest) is not as relevant anymore as there is only one way to fix deliverability issues nowadays - by following bulk sender guidelines posted by Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Microsoft, and other ISPs. ReturnPath has a better documentation website while 250ok could use some refinement. With 250ok you can choose the tools you need and build your own package and save money. With ReturnPath - not so much. 250ok also has partners across the globe while ReturnPath mostly promotes its own services and consultants.

Zoho Campaigns

Zoho Campaigns is honestly the worst email sender in the world. Anyone considering it should stay away. We have opted-in customers who are begging for emails from us and while we were using Zoho Campaigns (we are still moving away currently) no customer has received even one email from us. Also, they talk about integration with the CRM and there is absolutely no integration with the CRM or external programs.

Zoho Campaigns

  • For us, it ended up having a major negative impact. We lost dozens of customers because of their inability to receive our emails.
  • We ended up not being able to send a single email that landed in a customers inbox for over six months.
  • We lost a lot of money on paying for campaigns.
  • We lost close to $10,000 of our own team's internal time trying to make Zoho Campaigns work and it never did due to their terrible server reputation. Stay away!
