2Checkout is great when you sell software licenses online or when you offer SaaS subscriptions. I don't think it can work in other scenarios.

BluePay

BluePay has been great for our company's needs and is viewed as an improvement over our previous gateway provider. BluePay bought the software provider that we use for many of our online sales applications but it's disappointing to find that very little has been done to integrate BluePay's software/hardware offerings with the products that we've previously had installed. It would be really great to see the enhancements trickle down to previously existing products.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Customizable
  • Contains all basic reports and marketing tools

  • BluePay has been very responsive when we've had questions and gone out their way to make sure that users understand the answers that are given.
  • During our cut over to BluePay we found that there were reports that our users were used to having that didn't have an equivalent on BluePay's site. Our account rep went above and beyond to make sure that our users had the information that they needed by having custom reports sent on the schedule that we determined.
  • Overall our interchange rates are much lower with BluePay than they were with our previous gateway provider.

Cons

  • Local payments methods are an area for improvement. Not all are connected so far.
  • Bulk updates for catalogs are missing at the moment, to be added in upcoming releases I hope.

  • Customizable reporting would be great.
  • Giving users more latitude for search functions to be able to better research issues for customers

Alternatives Considered

I used to sell my software on Avangate and PayPal at the same time. Costs were very similar but I decided to abandon PayPal because it sometimes required human interventions. I also checked DigitalRiver, but it wasn't easy to setup and I never completed all requirements.

We initially chose BluePay because they had purchased the company that we used for our online payment processing and sales applications. To remain with our previous provider would have required costly updates but BluePay was fully integrated and allowed for a very smooth transition with little to no disruption for our employees or customers. After making the switch, we were so glad that we did. Our account rep has been so helpful and responsive, even going to the level of creating and scheduling custom reports to allow our users to do their jobs more easily and efficiently. We've also been pleased to see our overall fees/interchange go down from what we were charged by our previous providers. Overall, we have been very pleased with the service and services provided.

Return on Investment

  • 2Checkout charges you for every sale. It does not have other costs that can affect your finances.
  • 2Checkout has two plans for software companies. Make sure to select the one that is right for you or you will find yourself paying a high commission.

  • Decrease in overall credit card fees
  • Less headcount needed for the processing and reconciliation of credit cards
  • Fewer overall credit card chargebacks and disputes
