EchoSpan 360-Degree Feedback Tool

I can't imagine a scenario where it is less appropriate than any other 360 tool. It's easy to use, customizable, and inexpensive. Reports are easy to interpret. Great tool for anyone looking to implement a new 360.

Cornerstone OnDemand

Cornerstone OnDemand is well suited for large organizations with plenty of money to implement all the features you want and need. It is also well suited for organizations that need all of their modules, all the security features, and all of the various built-in reporting. It is also well suited for organizations with a full-service IT group to implement daily data loads and single sign-on. Cornerstone OnDemand is less well suited for small organizations without the IT support and for organizations who only need a simple place to serve up content. Cornerstone OnDemand is also not well suited for quick yet detailed, on-the-fly reporting.

  • Competency library is robust - includes pretty much any competency that you would need
  • Excellent customer service, both online (demonstrations of how to) and via phone/email
  • Completely customizable - different targets can have different competencies, rater types, rating scales, etc.

  • Cornerstone OnDemand is very robust and has a lot of room as the firm grows. This is a big plus if you are starting out and want to add features as you develop your training program.
  • Cornerstone OnDemand is a cloud-based, hosted system. This means updates are implemented in the background, no server administration, up-time is excellent, and everything is secure and backed up. In addition, Cornerstone provides two mirror sites where you can test updates and other concepts you would like to implement without affecting users.
  • Cornerstone OnDemand is a total HRD/HRM package with several different modules. For large organizations who have a lot of HR needs, Cornerstone offers all the support you need. The modules are designed to work seamlessly and share data according to the needs of the organization.
  • Cornerstone OnDemand has a very strong security system. Security parameters can be set on people and objects. This allows a lot of strength and flexibility.

Cons

  • It took us a little while to figure out how to set up a 360 (we didn't watch the demo videos until later), but once we did, it was very easy to use.

  • It is not always straightforward, but we are still learning.
  • There is often slow response time when making configuration changes. Changes can sometimes take up to one hour to appear.
  • Some features can only be enabled or configured on the back end by the vendor, and it often takes a long time for them to respond.
  • If you enroll all employees in a curriculum, you can’t unenroll them unless you go one by one through every account individually.
  • We’ve had reports of users being unable to move through a curriculum because the training would not mark as “complete” even though they have finished everything.
  • There are some parts of the interface that aren’t user friendly, i.e. you have to go through a lot of clicks. I think there could be UI improvements.
  • The way the widgets displays training that is assigned to a user is not consistent. It doesn’t show everything, and the order it displays training titles is random. It is difficult to tell a user what to expect when they see their home page.
  • I do wish it had a better sandbox environment. It’s a one-time refresh and you have to pay for additional refreshes which makes it more difficult to test. If we want to load a test curriculum and assign it to people, we have to do it in production, then deactivate it later – it will always be there. If we want to make changes to the interface, you cannot publish it, since it’s a production only environment. It makes it trickier to make changes. By contrast, Workday does a good job in this area – but you pay extra.

It meets all of our business needs at the moment. It is the most robust tool for LMS out on the market right now. the automation assigning of training for over 120+ job titles has us rooted and flows our daily training per new hire perfectly

It’s surprisingly slow for a SAAS product. When you click on links, there’s no hourglass or waiting indicator, so it’s difficult to tell if the system is going to respond.

My issues have always been understood and resolved. I don't feel like I'm explaining it to someone who doesn't understand the system. Often times they know the issue and have quick fixes from their experiences.

Our shortlist was: Litmus, Success Factors, Absorb, and Bloomfire. Our primary business need was learning management

a) Bloomfire – seemed more of a social networking, knowledge management tool, not really for learning management and so was eliminated.

b) Our initial choice was Success Factors, but we couldn’t come to terms on the contract. They weren’t willing to work with us on contract language for future purchases. Workday (who we use for HRIS) used Success Factors as their LMS at the time, but I understand it's since been decommissioned.

c) We didn’t know about Cornerstone at the time we selected Success Factors, but would have picked them otherwise. We learned about them after we had ruled out Success Factors. We ended up choosing Cornerstone as it had the best integration with Outlook and the highest capability to integrated with our HRIS (Workday) and to customize. You can change the display of the interface and put things where you want to go. It is highly customizable for branding and business
