EchoSpan 360-Degree Feedback Tool

As a 360 assessment it rates very well when compared to our previous vendor. 360-Degree Feedback is more affordable so it allows departments to avail themselves of the opportunity to help their team members learn more about themselves, which would have been cost-prohibitive with our previous vendor.The support department has been FANTASTIC! Quick responses on all any small issues and easy to work with for customizing templates. The system allows us to add rater groups and increase the group sizes easily.

Having worked at Florida Virtual School where we used a customized program called VSA, Maestro is definitely a breath of fresh air in terms of reliability. VSA was constantly having outages and erasing data, and I have not experienced that problem yet with Maestro. VSA was recently described as a "tumor" by an FLVS board member, so clearly Maestro is a huge step up. With that being said, I miss a lot of the customization that VSA had. I loved the comments field where I could type in notes and see them from the main screen. I miss being able to flag students for my own organization. One thing that Maestro has is an EASY way to send progress reports, which makes it a huge time saver from that feature alone.

Pros

  • Competency library is robust - includes pretty much any competency that you would need
  • Excellent customer service, both online (demonstrations of how to) and via phone/email
  • Completely customizable - different targets can have different competencies, rater types, rating scales, etc.

Cons

  • It took us a little while to figure out how to set up a 360 (we didn't watch the demo videos until later), but once we did, it was very easy to use.

  • No ability to view contact information from a home screen (must click into profile to see phone number)
  • Feels a bit archaic
  • Would be nice to see "flags" or ways to mark students for calling
  • Wish that the 'attempted call' option turned a student yellow instead of keeping them red

Alternatives Considered

I've seen or used several of the other 360 tools. EchoSpan is better in nearly every way. It is more customizable. It can be administered completely by someone internally, so no need to request someone to set up a 360 - you can just do it yourself. Competency library is great, and you can create others if you want to. Reports are easy to interpret. Very good customer service

  • It has allowed feedback from many employees so certain issues that needed to be dealt with became more transparent.
