EchoSpan 360-Degree Feedback Tool

I can't imagine a scenario where it is less appropriate than any other 360 tool. It's easy to use, customizable, and inexpensive. Reports are easy to interpret. Great tool for anyone looking to implement a new 360.

Despite some of the shortfalls, Taleo does offer a very large amount of flexiblity. If you are looking at migrating a current ATS to Taleo you will want to fully understand the information you want/need to port over and the costs associated. While I was not part of our initial migration from Verve to Taleo, I was intimately involved with the implementation of Transitions. Looking back, there was information that was not brought over in the initial move that limits some of the funtionality that would be nice to have now. Not that it can't be added back in, but it's more costly now to do so I recommend that you really think through the information that you need/want and try to do as much as you can at once. The process can be time intensive and therefore makes sense to get as much done to limit ongoing disruptions.

Pros

  • EchoSpan was extremely supportive in the initial training portion and is extremely quick to offer support when required.
  • Filled our request for customization and were easy to work with.
  • Excellent on-line training videos
  • It makes hiring an omnichannel process by reaching the candidates through various mediums like social media, talent exchange platform, job portals, etc.
  • It generates insights about the employees and can also help in predicting which employees are about to leave the organization.
  • It helps in pre-screening the candidates by using video interviews and other aptitude tests so that only relevant candidates come and meet the hiring managers.

Cons

  • It would be beneficial if the system automatically reported if an email was returned because of an incorrect address.
  • It does not allow candidates to apply using their LinkedIn profiles. It would save a lot of time at candidate's end and a lot of extra information gets captured through the LinkedIn profile.
  • It's difficult to locate all the candidates that fulfill a particular criteria. Somehow search results are not exhaustive.
  • User Interface is not at all intuitive. It takes a lot of time to get used to the system. Applying for leave is also a multi-step process.

Even with it's challenges, Taleo provides a great tool to capture data and provide employees with a one-stop shop for multiple processes. We are seeing an upward trend in obtaining new cutting edge technologies that will be beneficial in the ever changing world of High Tech. The community of users on Taleo is outstanding and there is a high level of collaboration and willingness to share that is not seen in other products. Overall we don't see a need to switch systems and will continue to leverage Taleo for the business.

Oracle has an excellent support model. The challenge is in adopting this support model and making traditional IT and non-mature system administrators use this model. In combination with the Oracle Cloud (client) Community, the support is excellent.

There is a lot of potential on Fusion. We have reaped about 10% of potential benefits. Especially on Workforce Intelligence, the opportunities are huge. The reason why we do not use the solution at its full potential is not in the product (which is simple and transparent). A roadmap is under construction to bring more of its potential to the end user.

Alternatives Considered

I've seen or used several of the other 360 tools. EchoSpan is better in nearly every way. It is more customizable. It can be administered completely by someone internally, so no need to request someone to set up a 360 - you can just do it yourself. Competency library is great, and you can create others if you want to. Reports are easy to interpret. Very good customer service

Taleo (owned now by Oracle) continues to be an incredibly powerful product and it's scalability is among the most robust of any ATS in use today.

Return on Investment

  • It has allowed feedback from many employees so certain issues that needed to be dealt with became more transparent.
  • faster time to fill for requisitions
  • more visibility into the data that is being captured
  • global solution has allowed us to take regional processes and make them more global
