EchoSpan 360-Degree Feedback Tool

I can't imagine a scenario where it is less appropriate than any other 360 tool. It's easy to use, customizable, and inexpensive. Reports are easy to interpret. Great tool for anyone looking to implement a new 360.

Qualtrics

Qualtrics is well suited for surveys that I can send out. The reminder function is great, I appreciate that a survey and all reminders can be programed all at once. That way I don't have to remember if I sent a reminder or not. I know it is taken care of. I have been told it is not so practical for instant surveys, like at a graduation ceremony where it is necessary to get the URL to an audience.

Pros

  • Competency library is robust - includes pretty much any competency that you would need
  • Excellent customer service, both online (demonstrations of how to) and via phone/email
  • Completely customizable - different targets can have different competencies, rater types, rating scales, etc.

  • Qualtrics offers a wide range of question formats. This feature allows for uniquely styled questions that keep a students interest.
  • Qualtrics is very useful for sending out surveys on a particular schedule at a good time to not overload our campus IT system. The reminder feature is great in that I can set up all four reminders for the entire survey when I set up the survey.
  • I most value the immediate support when I run into a problem. A problem stops my work in its tracks. It is very important that I get the issue resolved quickly so I can get on with my work.

Cons

  • It took us a little while to figure out how to set up a 360 (we didn't watch the demo videos until later), but once we did, it was very easy to use.

  • Reporting was a little difficult to navigate at times, but they are working on a new tool here
  • Some fairly standard features in my opinion (like advanced quota management) required paid upgrades
  • Some needs required workarounds - they were able to get us everything we needed eventually, but a few things didn't seem out of the box
  • No in-house resources to outsource the work to if we need someone to program a survey for us or conduct analysis (although they did introduce a new partner firm to us this year who can provide that support)
  • Response-based pricing model vs. flat fee or survey based model

I was impressed a couple years ago when two heads of market research at Fortune 500 companies told me about them, and I've been even more impressed with the advancements I've seen in the last year. I like where the company is headed, and I look forward to using them again in a future role.

There are many things which go wrong when survey is live, if you change some setting in the survey...it automatically gets reflected in the Live link. One of our survey was live and setting got changed to "Do not record personal information and remove associate panel information" and we lost close to 200 participants background information ....the issue is still under investigation as to how/who made this change, as only I had the access to the survey and I am 100% confident I didn't change anything in the survey once it went Live.When I contacted support if they have any information on who made the change on the survey, they mentioned they don't keep this information on their server. I was Shocked, one can go and change anything in the active survey and no information is recorded who made that change on the server.God Save our Active surveys on Qualtrics :(

I still use it. It does everything you need an online survey to do. From heat mapping to complex skip logic and display logic. I use it weekly and it never disappoints

  • Better than QuestionPro because it is more user friendly in creating the EDM's for the email distribution & 24/7 help desk is not available for QuestionPro.
  • Better than Medallia & SurveyMonkey because it has more analytics capabilities & more question types.
  • Better than Confirmit because the vocalize dashboard is stronger and capable of weighting the data.
