Project Estimator vs Flowlu

If you are considering purchasing this (very expensive) software, there is a 100% chance you are doing so because you have been awarded a Government contract that dictates you use 4Clicks Project Estimator. There are plenty of easier to use estimating packages out in the world, but you can't use any of them if you have a contract that requires 4Clicks.

Our customers mostly contact our company through on-site chat. If we are offline, Flowlu allowed us to set an automated task assigned to a specific account manager with [an] automated follow-up email sent to the customer.Import our existing customer database took less than [a] few minutes with help of auto-assigned CSV fields.Userfriendly [design] contributes to easy handling for the less tech-savvy users.

The estimates it produces are simple and easy to follow. The formatting is good.
The tech support provided is very attentive.

Access [to] email within the Flowlu application is great so you do not have to just in different browsers.
Record list is [a] great feature, you can customize it by just drag and drop and yes you can hide it from users you not willing to view.
Project management is superb along with CRM.

Cons

The software feels 20 years old. It has not kept up with modern times, and practically functions like an old DOS program.
Clunky interface, arcane commands.
Even their training info focuses on hotkeys like this is 1995. Even though I am of an age to remember computers in 1995, the younger generations of managers/estimators are not. It is time to bring the software into the new century!

Flowlu needs to work on exporting data as pdf files or printable options.
It would be great to have [a] customer dashboard.
If live chat provided to [the] website will be great.

I have found Flowlu while searching [for] a collaborative tool for a friend's non-profit organization. As I read the description and made a trial test, I fell in love with the tool. So we are definitely going to renew. Not only because the delivered solutions are great but also because Flowlu's roadmap seems very [promising].

Is there an ability for a custom on-boarding for a new member? I don’t know [because] I am using the software solo. But this is the one I can see that will happen in the future. What If I add another team, I don’t want to teach everything from ground up. Maybe that’s why there is KB? I don’t know. So at least have the onboarding questionnaire if we are a solo or a team, then based on the answer, certain apps will be turned off by default but users can always toggle them all on if they want so. Again, I am still learning the software so maybe these functionality is hidden somewhere there I just don’t know.

I wrote to support with two small questions. There is a chat/mail function within the app that makes it easy to contact Flowlu. The answers from the support team came within a few hours and contained the information I needed to solve my problem. There was no need to ask again.

Alternatives Considered

WinEst uses much the same database (RS Means/Gordion type) and has a similar interface. It is a bit cheaper.

Trello is very nice, but Flowlu has more complete modules that can reduce the number of tools that we use to manage the business.

Return on Investment

As stated before, if you are buying this software, it is because you have a contract forcing you to. While it does work, it is clunky, awkward, and very expensive.
The price of the software and databases has always been high, but with the fairly recent acquisition of 4Clicks by Gordion (who also bought RS Means for their databases), there is literally no competition. Prices will continue to be very high, with no check on how high they can go.
Again, can't fault 4Clicks tech support, as I think it is the best in the industry. They know their product and they respond to issues immediately. Considering what we spend a year for this product, however, you would expect nothing less.

Flowlu has provided us with [a] solution of perfect managing our business [without] wasting time on tracking so it's a positive impact if ROI is considered.
As of now, we don't see any negative impact, as our [workflow] is very smooth with Flowlu.
