As stated in previous comments, the software platform has the ability to offer a variety of services. It is well suited for all organizations and events. With that said, no software is perfect for everyone and the user should take in consideration both functionality and investment. The platform we used lacked some "ease of use" administrative functions and was not ideal for marketing our sponsors.

Our organization has implemented Apricot by Social Solutions for case management, and it has been a phenomenal fit. We will also be using it for volunteer management. While we have not used it at an administrative level, I've heard other users suggest getting the greatest ROI by using it for all administrative functions such as submitting timesheets or PTO requests

  • Attendee List Maintenance: The platform provides an easy-to-use attendee list. Modifying the information is a piece of cake.
  • Attendee Check In/Out: Highly recommend the software for their quick and easy access to attendance entries and information.
  • Technical and Customer Support: Our representative was very knowledgeable and was able to assist us rather quickly when prompted by email or telephone call.

  • The support staff does an incredible job when things get off track. Their ability to problem solve, backtrack and fix errors was exceptional when I needed assistance with a problem. One particular complex instance required going back several days into history, making changes and recreating subsequent changes was met with patience, thoughtful consideration and follow through.
  • Social Solutions provides users with many easily available forms of self help for both users and program administrators as well as formal training options.
  • I have found that Social Solutions listens to their clients. They provide forums where users can ask questions to their staff and share issues with other companies using their software. Many times answers are shared among users and problems are solved
  • The staff is well informed and knowledgeable about the system and have always worked well with me when I have an issue. They have also collaborated among themselves on more complex issues.

  • Modifying Client Payments: There were too many steps to take when modifying a client payment in the system. Although we could complete the task, one would expect a single step instead of multiple steps from a variety of page views.
  • Adding or Modifying a Single item: You would expect the platform to bring you back to the same item for any further modification or review. Rather, the platform took you to the top of the page was rather annoying especially when you have hundreds of auction items.
  • Knowledge Base: The platform offers a knowledge base if you know where to locate it. Rather than clicking on a link within the header or footer of the software, we were forced to locate some original emails from the developer which contained a link for the knowledge base. There should be no reason for hiding access to information.
  • Sponsor Marketing: Most events if not all of them, are financially successful because of sponsorship revenues. It is extremely important to market these sponsors (or large donors) on the platform. The software does a poor job in emphasizing these sponsors.

  • I would like to see us be able to search using several different options, sometimes the searches don't reveal the exact info we need or reveal too much and then I sort out the files that aren't necessary for my needs.

I went to the Summit a few weeks ago to learn about the future expansion and vision of Social Solutions. I already been with Apricot for 5 years and researched other products I still come back to Apricot and where it can grow with us.

  • All software platforms enhance ROI and save time and money. Not sure if this software was better than others.

  • AVS is freeing up my time from data collection and analysis to being able to spend more time on pursuing other grant revenes. Since we have only recently started in the last quarter, I anticipate that will continually improve as we build and implement more data collection in AVS and as Department Direcrtors become more familiar with how to manage their own data.
  • We still have a few folks who are not tech savy or comfortable with new technology or change for that matter. This hampers the full benefit of Apricot to our organization.
  • It's a big upfront investment of staff time and cost to get AVS or any data base in use. Four years ago our organization spent $50,000 and countless staff hours developing a customized data base and then the consultant wanted another $30,000 to make the additional changes we needed. Needless to say, we never got a functional data base from them and we felt very skeptical of ever attempting it again. The fact that we can make the changes ourselves in AVS, assumming we learn the administrative functionality, is a huge plus to control costs in a small non-profit.
