I use 7Sheep for marketing as a sales person. This works well for me as a single user. I do not think I could use the software together with my colleagues. Although we could have separated lists the access rights might not fit our use case. It has a strong marketing focus and cannot replace a full CRM system.

GreenRope

There's no such thing as a CRM that doesn't have its complications and headaches. I have tried a lot of them and ultimately like GreenRope heads and shoulders above the rest. GreenRope is particularly suited for small to medium sized businesses who do not have the budget or need for a SalesForce install, or the engineers necessary to make other CRM software work. If you want a more sophisticated system than an email responder like MailChimp or Constant Contact, you need to have a CRM. So ask yourself what you are looking to automate in your business and then go for a solution that has the ability to scale with you. A CRM is a commitment to long term growth and automation, and you should see it as an investment -- both in cash and in time. I don't have a programmer and have managed to get a lot of functionality out of GreenRope (all DIY). And I'm always adding to it with no limits in sight.

Pros

  • Sporadic mailings to my clients via the e-mail campaign feature. I create personlised HTML emails with the visual editor and schedule them to be sent during the day when I am on the road.
  • After initial contact with new clients I setup a series of timed emails to stay in contact. Based on flags I have in the system they are automatically adjusted.
  • Existing clients get automated emails after certain events like visits or deliveries.
  • I often get in touch with support to ask for best practice examples and they are always helpful.

  • GreenRope is an affordable alternative to Infusionsoft, which I used to use, with more functionality.
  • GreenRope is feature rich. I was able to completely replace several pieces of software. Not only is that more cost-effective, it is hugely efficient. I'm in GreenRope all day long and have built many of my sales systems around it.
  • GreenRope is easier to use than other CRM software so I have had less fights with my staff to get them to adopt it than with past software.
  • GreenRope's customer support is absolutely top-notch. They are responsive and genuinely helpful.
  • GreenRope is constantly coming up with improvements. I love that they are innovating, improving and integrating with partners on a regular basis, as it solves my problems.

  • As we've never used a full-featured CRM before, there was a pretty steep learning curve on how to get our data in and working for us. The training GreenRope provides is helpful, but the user interface still took me a while to wrap my head around.
  • One assumption made during GreenRope setup was that we'd be relying heavily on a custom GreenRope website. We primarily want to keep all of our traffic on our current site, so there was a bit of confusion to begin with.
  • GreenRope is heavy on the marketing side of things (sales leads, conversions, etc...) which is excellent, but a bit overwhelming when we just wanted to get in and get started with a simple email drip campaign with some email tracking. We're leaning, though, and appreciate GreenRope's continued efforts to bring us up to speed on the marketing stuff.

The tool serves our needs and we like the user interface. The few times we contacted support they were super helpful and responsive. When we asked for more integrations they confirmed the integrations we need (e.g. Hipchat) for the near future.

It does everything I need when I'm at my computer. I would just like to have greater functionality in the iphone app. I have discussed with Greenrope my issues and they appear to be working on these issues

Right from the beginning, GreenRope's staff have been extremely helpful with getting us setup and answering all of our questions. In addition to chat support, the documentation provided within GreenRope itself is detailed and easily accessible. GreenRope is also really good about letting you know that they are available - and how to contact them. My questions/requests are answered quickly, every time.

I think there are some cheat sheets and best practises lists that could be created that would save a business a lot of time and frustration. BUT, even as it is, the frustrations and challenges disappear as things start working. I am going to be offering up a few of the tricks I have learned to the team at GreenRope to share with other users because when customers offer valuable work arounds that they find helpful to others, we accomplish a few things. The coders get an idea of things that aren't working quite as expected so they can look into fixes, other customers get benefit and we all win

Alternatives Considered

I've used MailChimp before and I liked their product as well, however, data protection is key in our organization. As we are working in multiple countries, some of which have very strict data protection laws, and it was important that we kept the data stored on servers in Europe. MailChimp's servers are in the US, as is the case for many other similar companies. That alone was a major reason for us to go with 7Sheep, which is a European company that keeps all data stored on servers in Europe

We were using Goldmine prior to transitioning to GreenRope. The cost of Goldmine was the main reason we went looking for another CRM software and discovered that Goldmine at the time did not have some of the features of GreenRope and the price was just right.

  • Automated lead nurturing is a huge time saver.
  • Using the same contact list for nurturing and the newsletter is reducing our administration.
  • Segmenting our contacts into the different business segments also makes my life easier.
