I think 7Sheep is especially important for organizations who need flexibility in translating and adapting their communications for an international target group. Being able to send out mailings and set forms up in multiple languages is very useful and in some cases necessary. Also, 7Sheep is great if you want to track how people are responding to your mailings. For example, do they open the mailings? If so, what do they click?

HubSpot

HubSpot is an excellent marketing automation platform for multiple business levels. From SMBs who need the support of a free CRM to emerging companies with a marketing team of 1, HubSpot's intuitive CX means a small learning curve and tons of resources to get your team up and running in no time. For those of us in enterprise-level companies, the added comfort of dedicated support far outweighs those the competition offers with creative solution solvers and a team that advises us of best practices to stay competitive.

Pros

  • When preparing an event, 7Sheep takes care of pretty much everything you need to select, inform, and register participants, as well as prepare materials for the events, such as name badges and signature lists.
  • We also use 7Sheep for reporting on communications activities.
  • 7Sheep allows you to build simple or complex forms and questionnaires which we use both for events and independent surveys.
  • The drag and drop HTML editor makes things look good without a lot of extra effort.

  • HubSpot provides centralised management of contact information and insights for the whole business to access, in a very user-friendly way.
  • HubSpot delivers a solid set of tools both for the Sales and Marketing teams, along with some of the best training and support in the market to drive value from these tools and processes.
  • HubSpot integrates other tools and services really well, so we can keep data in one place
  • We have a great relationship with the team at HubSpot as well as the ecosystem of supporting vendors and customers. There are numerous groups and educational resources to support HubSpot and learn about inbound marketing.

Cons

  • It would be useful if some standard email templates were available.
  • They could find a way to make the form questions easier/quicker to reorder.
  • I would like to be able to change user roles so that only certain people could see certain contact lists.
No photo available
  • The forms software was a little limited if you don't do custom CSS work, but I believe this has improved. We are now able to produce good-looking landing pages and forms.
  • Some of the HubSpot emails are not as mobile-responsive as I would like them to be, but this could be user-error on our part.
  • HubSpot used to have limited integrations but they are adding to those every month and now all of our major technologies we use integrate well.

Our business relies on the HubSpot platform to manage our marketing, sales and CRM processes. HubSpot marketing automation helps us define our activities and streamlines them in a cohesive and efficient way. Without HubSpot, we will have to revert to the 'old way' of doing everything with a variety of disparate systems.

HubSpot is so easy to use. It's very rare for me to put in a support ticket. I can design simple landing pages, email and campaign myself with quick turn-around time.

With all the new features in HubSpot, the system can get a tad slow sometimes... That said, most of the time it is lightning fast and I have no problems. Because most of the integrations are API, they silently work in the background. I have not had trouble with lag due to HubSpot integration

Their support team is always there to help and usually can deliver the solution you are looking for in just a few minutes over the phone. While I do not find myself calling support very often there are others within my company that do and they rave about how patient and willing to help everyone is on the support team

I did the 2-day classroom at HubSpot's corporate office in Cambridge. First off, it was amazing to see their corporate office in general. They have such a cool office environment. But it was also great to have the ability to learn in a workshop format with other HubSpot users and meet my Account Manager/ Inbound Marketing Consultant in person.

I started the HubSpot Academy and I did the online classes to get inbound certified long before purchasing the platform. The format is pretty simple: watch videos, do some workshopping, and then take a test to become certified. The classes are very informative and generally do not take too long to complete. Also, part of your implementation fee includes an Inbound Marketing Consultant who helps set up your first campaigns.

My biggest piece of advice for those who are implementing Hubspot is that you need to devote the time up front and learn how to use the product. Once you learn how to use Hubspot, it will be much more effective as well as much easier to use in the long run

Alternatives Considered

It offers the email marketing solution we need with addition!

I used ONTRAPORT, previously called Office Autopilot, for a couple of years. I loved it. It was very user friendly.I also used Sendpepper, ONTRAPORT's little brother, for a while as well. I loved it also. It was very user friendly, had a degree of auto email functionality, and was very cheap.Neither were as well set up, user friendly, supported by training, technically supported or with the complexity of functionality as HubSpot though. It was a tough choice and we decided to go with HubSpot because it could handle our planned growth, plus the sales team told me it had auto email functionality - I genuinely think they thought the basic package did, rather than were misleading me on purpose. I don't think I'd have gone with HubSpot if I'd known about the lack of auto email functionality in the basic package, however, I'm glad we did because it is such a good system in so many ways. I'm just frustrated that we can't afford to upgrade to the Professional package now and probably not in the next few years.

While HubSpot initially, seven years ago, seemed built for SMBs it appears they have scaled their solution for larger enterprises. I do not have experience sending out 10 million-plus emails per month so I don't know how HubSpot would handle that. However, I do know that some other marketing automation platforms have had trouble with such scale. As such, I suggest HubSpot have one of it's enterprise customers share data on the length of time it takes to send out 1 million emails. Are we talking minutes, hours or days? Then decide what's right for you based on your business needs.

Return on Investment

  • Definitely increased efficiency! In terms of event organisation and contacts management, I'd say around 70% time is saved in the medium/long run (after getting to grips with the system - but definitely worth the initial time investment).
  • Better service and engagement rate - some of the things which I had to remember to do (like respond to emails or send follow up information) can be taken care of automatically. Often a simple acknowledgement will go a long way...

  • Hubspot has given us better reporting metrics on items we reported on before.
  • I can see contact activity in their profiles.
  • It allows me to manage the blog quickly and efficiently with lots of flexibility for design and posting options within itself and the social media.
