As there are not currently any out of the box integrations with 7Sheep I would ask them to talk about the API and integrations - they can be done but it is best to ask for a timeline on this too. It will also be interesting to see when further integrations are offered - they had no set timeline for this when we spoke at the beginning of the year.

I think cost is a factor for many small businesses and Infusionsoft may be on the expensive side. Infusionsoft has a proficient CRM, but its email broadcast service leaves a lot to be desired. There are workarounds and glitches. I've been told specifically by support staff that it's something they're aware of but we just need to "put up with it" and use the workaround to make it function

Pros

  • With an embedded form we capture leads on our website. These leads get a drip campaign.
  • After someone has signed up we store relevant details in 7Sheep via the API and start a drip campaign.
  • All users and leads get our newsletter and updates.
  • We have installed the 7Sheep tracking code on our website to get additional information about our leads.

  • Build campaigns/automation.
  • The Campaign Builder is the best way we have found to create automation sequences. The visual builder is great for quickly outlining processes that we need to automate. You can automate emails, web forms, tags, contact record fields, sales stages, contact record notes, and much more. It takes a while to really master the Campaign Builder, and fully understand how the logic works, but once you do it is a very powerful tool for taking an idea of what you want to happen and making it real.
  • Support.
  • You will inevitably need to contact support at some point. Their support chat feature is pretty good. You can usually get a rep to help you almost instantly. Reps are usually knowledgeable and friendly.
  • Third party support and plugins.
  • The Infusionsoft community is growing and there are lots of plugins and services available to help enhance almost every aspect of Infusionsoft. If there is something Infusionsoft can't do, there is usually a product/service to fill in the gaps.

Cons

  • We use Joomla and a plugin would be great.
  • To get a perfect match for the look of our website we had to use custom CSS. Support explained us how to use this.
  • Planning campaings over time can only be done in a list view. A more easy approach would be great.

  • Missing Pieces - There are many things that Infusionsoft does well, but every once in a while you'll think of something you'd like to do and realize that it's not built into the software. For instance, after a customer buys a product you might want to display a different "thank you" page according to their personal details, but unless you know how to code and can work with the API, you are going to have a difficult time doing that. However, usually when you find holes in capability like that, there is a plug-in from a third party that you can purchase. It's not ideal but it does get you the end result you want.
  • Chat Help - Partly due to the dramatic growth of Infusionsoft's customer base, the online chat help feature has suffered. There can be extremely long waits and many times the person answering your question is not very knowledgeable/creative with solutions. If you need help when using Infusionsoft, it's best to call instead of using the online chat, particularly if your problem needs some creative thinking.

I give Infusionsoft a 7 out of 10 because it really is a good and deep tool. Next time we're in the market for an email automation tool I believe we will start at a tool with a lower price point until we can feel out our needs. When our email marketing volume increases into the 10-30k per month the sophistication Infusionsoft brings to the table will be much more valuable.

Buyer beware. Be prepared to invest many hours if you plan to manage this application yourself. This is true of any automation solution. Can you take classes and go to University again and become a great marketing automation expert yourself? Yes, probably. But should you be investing your highest and most productive use of time building out Infusionsoft. Not likely.Which means you need to plan on finding someone you can trust and that is the plain truth. There are many qualified consultants who have sufficient sales, marketing, business, content, life and Infusionsoft experience to help you get results. But far too many people decry this as an all in one solution that is easy to use. This will never be the case even though the product development team is constantly working to make it a better product and easier to use.We don't make our own paper clips for a reason. We outsource all the time. We have to make really informed decisions on the solutions we use and then commit to learning best practices for marketing regardless of the platform.Do not expect to pay someone less than $150-$250 per hour to really make this application sing. Or pay them for training or internal services and then kick yourself.

OMG, it's all in one and that compromises everything, fundamentally. If you want a race car, invest in a race car. If you want a dune buggy, get that. If you want a boat that floats, go for it.

It may be easy to get someone on chat or phone for which I give these guys credit. But this does not mean you will get the answers you want or like. It's a buggy system. Why? Because it's all in one. The CRM is decent. The cart a joke. The email editor laughable. Affiliate partner function serves a huge business risk unless programmed by a NASA level consultant for which you can and must pay dearly. There are just too many bugs overall.

This training is taught often to the lowest common denominator so as to help as many customers of theirs as possible. We do the training and coaching and implementations for our clients. But clients who I know who have been to their training get trained well. The gap that can exist lies in you doing your part and really investing in using and building out the application. The training and education is only as good as your willingness to apply it.

Don't let the fear of implementing a new software solution keep you from unleashing the power of automation that Infusionsoft provides. With the right implementation partner, the process can not only be smooth and painless, it can actually help you get a better understanding for how your current communication process can be improved upon.

Volusion does not hold a candle to Infusionsoft. Volusion does not offer the ability to automate the client journey and in the long run, it is more cost effective to build a website and use a better CRM than to settle for a website template and entry level CRM. In addition, the amount of cold calls that a person receives from Volusion is annoying.

Scalability

Pricing is user and email and function based. Way too many pay walls and not native function for scaling. It's scaleable with NASA level marketing automation talent you must pay to engage. Otherwise, it gets expensive quickly for scaling to a true small business, which is what they target. Over 25 users and you're screwed. Look at the competition first, evaluate what you really need for your business and start there. Keep it simple, build your cash flow and confidence in the people you hired to make this work and then scale. Don't get sucked into the dream that this thing will help you sell your book to millions and you get famous while hanging on your boat or whatever. Building a small business is hard enough. Adding software often adds complexity in order to successfully scale.

Return on Investment

  • We certainly have experienced a great efficiency for our staff.
  • We spend far less time chasing tasks as they can be divided within 7Sheep.
  • Segmentation of data and lead management is really great and has helped us enormously in terms of efficient use of data.
Angela Hawliczek profile photo
  • Expensive if not utilized. Infusionsoft is a software investment and an expense for marketing. If it is not used for that purpose it is too expensive for a small business owner to consider.
  • It easy to use if you are tech inclined or you have the ability to hire a coach to maximize the value that the software provides.
  • It can be used as a project management tool and daily to do list if it is fully embraced by the user.
