As long as you know what you need 7Sheep for, then you will be impressed at how much it will do for you. If you only have a small list of contacts and only talk to them once a year, then you'll probably not need it - but if you are involved in any kind of communications/PR within multiple clients or multiple stakeholder groups, it will make your life a lot easier once you've understood how to work it yourself

Oracle Eloqua

Eloqua is well suited for clients with the need to automate marketing tasks to save on time and money. This would be most marketing teams and primarily B2B. Eloqua may be used for B2C marketing but there are better fit products for that.Eloqua is especially great for large and/or complex marketing, sales, and IT teams. It has the ability to be customized to meet their needs while not being extremely difficult to setup and manage. It has functionality that its competitors lack to support global, large marketing teams.

  • 7Sheep is used as a standalone software and not integrated in our intranet.
  • Setup of automated emails could be more visual to better see when which email is sent.
  • A helper library for API access would be useful.

  • The reporting functionality could use some updates in the interface department - it feels old-fashioned and less visually intuitive compared to other tools. Although I am being told this is addressed
  • Because Oracle is such a large enterprise itself, performing many acquisitions in rapid succession, product documentation is often out of date and scattered, which can make it a little hard to find answers to support questions.
  • Similarly, the support platform can be confusing due to outdated interfaces and multiple platforms existing alongside one another.

Price is always a factor. Switching from one platform for another is almost never a lateral move. If you intend to switch purely for monetary reasons, you may want to reconsider due to the large step backwards to do so. This will cost more than the savings would catch up to in years. If you have legitimate concerns about the platforms performance, I would do a lot of research to make sure the competitor doesn't have the same or worse. Also, another thing to consider is with a newer platform competitor means fewer experts to turn to, either as consultants or new hire employees. A lot of the times customers tend to think the grass is greener on the other side, but really the grass is greener where you water it.

I use all of these in some measurement for our clients, but Eloqua is in my eyes the better option for corporate and enterprise level businesses. Its many features, flexibility and constant stream of updates make it the futureproof answer to any marketing challenge in my eyes. That said, I think smaller businesses will benefit more from platforms like Act-On or Hubspot. While these platforms may have less flexibility in their options, they are easier to get started with.

A lot its features are modular, meaning they can be added or removed from the system via addons. Similarly, the system is built to handle not only large numbers of contacts, but complex contact segmentation and contact security (separation of contacts based on criteria like business unit, sales region etc.) as well. Finally, user administration is very refined, allowing you to configure users' access very precisely, down to which button they can and cannot click.

  • We only provide support for our clients, so I cannot share hard numbers, but we do notice our clients getting much more leads of better quality out of their marketing efforts.
  • By aligning Eloqua CRM integration with business flows, we see our clients are learning how to qualify leads and how to follow up on them.
  • At the same time, using Eloqua allows them to close the loop on marketing efforts, which gives marketeers the ability to validate their budgets.
