Any business that has workers in multiple locations or workers who are based out for the office for significant periods of time will really benefit from the 8x8 cloud-based system. Your direct line follows you around, but because of the Virtual Attendant, office hours and out of hours can be configured so that you only receive calls when you're "at work."

I don't know of any in the communications system environments where secure, efficient and robust telecommunications are needed where Avaya would not be well suited. Where Avaya towers above their rivals are in a volume of calls and data processed and interconnectivity between points across the globe. It is very well suited for large educational institutions, hospitals, businesses and international organizations of all types. These systems would also be very useful in government operations.

  • What I like the most was it's very easy to understand.
  • Displays the phone number of the customer calling in on the screen.
  • It is very efficient at call centers since you can hear clearly without any interruptions or any static on the line.
  • It is definitely an indispensable tool if you want to have a communicative contact without failures.
  • The Avaya system is the best in the industry and there are many options available to meet your needs. The system is extremely easy to use and is used in various industries.

  • Easier navigation through setting up call queues and auto attendants.

  • My least favorite thing about the software would have to be the setting when the phone is placed on hold. There is no distinct ring to separate a line on hold vs a normal incoming phone call.
  • The phone will continue to ring until it has been picked u. I think it would be most beneficial to have it ring a couple times every minute to remind you the line is on hold.

Oddly enough I have been impressed with the IP Office platform so much that I have integrated one into my home. My wife was not happy with it initially but once she started using it she was very happy with the results. It helped that I programmed it to work just like a home phone but with features and options that I can utilize remotely. I would be more than happy to put an AVAYA IP Office against any other phone system on the market, and let you be the judge.

I find Avaya easy to use but I am not a beginner. I think it is much more difficult for beginners unless the administrator has some basic programming skills. The system is getting more difficult to use but I enjoy learning and haven't found myself stumped yet.

In the time I have used 8x8 Virtual Office, the core system has been up and running almost flawlessly though we do have a slight performance degradation from time to time as is expected of cloud software. The one recurring issue for us is that the fax connection is not always functional for outbound messages. We usually have to retry three or four times to get the fax to connect reliably to the destination machine. Once connected, it's smooth sailing.

None of the features that are available slow down the application. The reports (even the ones with hundreds of records) complete very quickly and the web interface as well as the mobile application never struggle to load or complete a task. The analytics will sometimes take some time to reflect the online status of users but it is to be expected due to connection speeds.

The tech support that I have received has been outstanding. My only complaint is at times the support is hard to understand due to offshore technicians.

Having previously used 8X8 and CloudCall, when we went to the market for a VoIP provider to Integrate ERP, we found that 8X8 was much better across the following areas:
  • Better User interface.
  • Call reporting was more in-depth and accurate.
  • Call conferencing. It was much easier to add people in and to schedules.
  • Customization. Both in terms of hold music, answering messages, and call routing.

We've had periods where our organization has grown a considerable amount and we have had no issues in scaling our communications with 8x8. The number of possible extensions that we can use is far more than we expect to go through in a very long time. The only complaint that I have is a very minor inconvenience for me where I have to download activation codes for each phone. I would prefer to have the phones automatically activated as soon as they are plugged in.
