It is VERY well-suited for those people who travel a lot. I have 8x8 Work on my cell phone, my laptop, and desktop computer at work. This makes me SO much more accessible than the typical insurance agent. Anyone who doesn't have a software program will never know that someone was trying to reach them over a weekend per se. I had one client who got into an accident, needed to make a claim and didn't know what to do. I saw that they called in on a Saturday morning and the call came right through to my cell phone when no one picked up at the office (since I am closed on weekends).

Skype for Business
You may be wondering why to choose Skype for Business and pay for Skype when there is also a free option. The free Skype doesn't come with features that would be helpful to a big group as it only has the capability to connect less than 25 participants in any one meeting. If you have a large group of employees that need to meet, Skype for Business is definitely worth the upgrade.

Pros
8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office)
- The control panel is great and gives us full flexibility over how our system is configured.
- The customer support at initial setup was superb and we had a dedicated account manager who ensured that we were fully configured and working the way we wanted before handing over to the ongoing support team.
- The smartphone app is great and is just like having your fully-functional desk phone in your pocket.

- It offers work tools that manage to maintain a stable connection and quality in each individual and group call.
- Allows sharing the computer screen for excellent communication.
- It is a tool that adapts to the current business dynamics that requires it to be efficient in communication through rapid and assertive communication with clients or interested parties.
- Video calls for the organization of work meetings have become a common experience in smart organizations because they understand that in order to adapt to a constantly changing world they must use more effective work tools.
- You can make individual and group video calls, send images, emoticons, text messages, voice messages, share files, share the screen in two or group with other communication tools.

Cons
8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office)
- The mobile app is good but can be too much at times, almost taking over the phone.
- It would be nice if there was a way that when a voicemail is sent via email that it could mark it as listened to once the email has been opened.
- The setup for the auto attendant is very intuitive, granted it works well once set up.
- It would be nice if a call placed on hold could be picked up by another extension

- Having multiple Chats/Conversations open, make Skype unresponsive from time to time. Sometimes it has tendencies of crashing even on high-end machines.
- Grouping chats - Works well, however, there is no option to group appointed meeting conversation with other regular conversations/chats that were not initiated by calendar event.
- Should be able to have some themes to choose from. Microsoft is going for a dark theme in Windows insider program. Personal Skype already has it why wouldn't Skype for business have it? It is pleasant to the eye, at least in my opinion and for my eyes.

We've had an excellent experience with 8x8 Virtual Office. We have downtime very rarely and the service provided by all reps is excellent. The little quirks that I've mentioned as cons are minor inconveniences but I prefer working like that than hosting our own PBX.

The software is simple to install and configure. It is rather simple to explain for correct use. It is possible to profile users for the different functions offered. It is integrated quite completely with Outlook and with Active Directory security. It performs all communication functions well with one or more interlocutors and the possibility of granting control of your computer is convenient.

The actual 8x8 and user portion work great, the administrative side of things, not so much. Things are not user-friendly as an admin and make it difficult for me to navigate and understand what is going on. Also, in the switch from the previous system to the new one, things didn't switch over correctly, creating more work for myself. Also, there have been issues with accessing for some users.

Skype for Business is great for instant messaging, with some minor issues. It has an acceptable quality for audio and video conferencing. Its integration with Microsoft Office is a big plus. The one that is a real setback is the screen sharing during conferences, which can be really annoying to watch if it doesn't disconnect too often.

In the time I have used 8x8 Virtual Office, the core system has been up and running almost flawlessly though we do have a slight performance degradation from time to time as is expected of cloud software. The one recurring issue for us is that the fax connection is not always functional for outbound messages. We usually have to retry three or four times to get the fax to connect reliably to the destination machine. Once connected, it's smooth sailing.

None of the features that are available slow down the application. The reports (even the ones with hundreds of records) complete very quickly and the web interface as well as the mobile application never struggle to load or complete a task. The analytics will sometimes take some time to reflect the online status of users but it is to be expected due to connection speeds.

I very rarely rate 10 as I believe there is always room for improvement. With that having been said, 8x8 customer support has been outstanding each and every time I have had to use it. They are quick in taking action, and quick in finding a solution to my problem

Skpe for business is utilized company wide in regards to my company. Everyone not only uses it, but uses it often. It is an effective way of communicating. It also integrates very nicely with outlook and all conversation history is pushed to a folder within the outlook system. We also have it so that if someone misses a message, they are sent an email reminder saying that there is a message that went unread.

We previously used the Allworx on-site VOIP system. Having migrated away from Allworx, we are finding the administration of 8x8 very similar, so we came from a background of VOIP administration. Using that experience, helped us transition to 8x8 very easy. Also, not being tied to internal hardware made for a better, more flexible deployment.

I have used Google Hangouts previously, and I believe that Skype is a better service. It is intertwined with the calendar. Also, when installing it as part of the Office 365 package, it is only a second install. I also like how it saves the messages within Outlook. Skype for Business also uses end to end encryption. This makes all business communication more secure than Google Hangouts

We've had periods where our organization has grown a considerable amount and we have had no issues in scaling our communications with 8x8. The number of possible extensions that we can use is far more than we expect to go through in a very long time. The only complaint that I have is a very minor inconvenience for me where I have to download activation codes for each phone. I would prefer to have the phones automatically activated as soon as they are plugged in.

- For me - the ROI is being able to close business much faster. I love being able to receive electronic faxes while I’m out of the office as I receive purchase orders and know they have arrived with the email update.
