SAP SuccessFactors is a suite of HR/HCM products covering these capability areas: core HR and payroll, recruiting and onboarding, learning and development, performance and compensation management, workforce analytics and planning, and employee experience management.
For our organization, Absorb is a fantastic choice. We are able to offer comprehensive learning opportunities for users and to do so in a system that is user-friendly, attractive, modern, and robust in its reporting capabilities. The fact that Absorb has the capability to manage communication with users surrounding expiry dates and outstanding elements to be completed is life-changing for our team.
SAP SuccessFactors works great for big companies, over 5 thousand employees to ballpark a number. For smaller businesses, I am not sure if the cost is worth it or ideal for them. Succession tracking is a great experience. I have a need to ease the tracking of performance for operators in the system, and based on SAP SuccessFactors' design, I am not able to accommodate a very antic and classic performance appraisal approach.
Usability - Both the User and Admin Experience is so simple and intuitive. The admin tools are clearly defined and laid out, yet the functionality makes it still powerful.
Integration - We used the Scheduled Data Imports and Exports to connect with our HRIS tool. After the initial configuration, it has worked reliably and gives me all the custom data I need to make assignments and reporting a breeze.
Design - I know it's covered a little bit in the Usability above, but the site just looks fantastic. There are a lot of options to customize and fit your branding requirements and all of the thumbnails/posters/billboards/etc give a very visual and appealing look to the LMS. Much better than I've seen in other products.
The whole software is not user friendly from and admin side.
A lot of our problems have stemmed from our implementation partner not having the knowledge and experience we needed.
Updates to the system have been made and it’s affected too many entities in our learning module. Settings to previous uploads needed to be changed, the previous settings applied did not work the same, etc. constant updates are needed.
We have no plans to move away from Absorb at this time. It has all of the functionality we are looking for in a learning management system and we have a lot of info stored in our LMS system for trainings including all of our current and past employee transcripts. It is also getting easier to manager with being able to connect the LMS to ADP to update employee reporting/department/location/etc. We don't have a need or reason to move away from Absorb at this time.
We have put a vast amount of time and effort into our installation- and there is more work to be done, but the system has a lot of benefits that we plan to maximize and optimize in order to generate the greatest value for everyone involved
SSFF is very user friendly and intuitive even for a non tech employee. Also, there´s a complete database and community where we can find solution to common and uncommon issues
Until now we have not had serious availability problems with SuccessFactors, we had Microsoft Active Directory and SSO with ADFS and we had availability problems but because of problems with ADFS, we migrated to Azure AD and with that the availability problems of SuccessFactors because of ADFS went away. The only windows of unavailability that we have had are those that we are communicated to do maintenance and upgrades.
The performance is very good, the truth is that we have not had serious performance problems, some complex reports may take a little longer, but considering the complexity and the amount of records it is an acceptable time. We have never received a complaint from users regarding page loading speed.
We cannot speak highly enough for the Elite Support service. Having a dedicated partner to help us through multiple projects, multiple upgrades, and multiple custom configurations has been absolutely key. Our CSM really has been like an extra team member and we know we can rely on him for anything we need. His product expertise and friendly professionalism is unrivaled!
SuccessFactors Employee Central gets a middle of the road rating from me because of the things it does really well - Training. It falls short with the objectives cascade and visibility amongst my reports. That's what brings it down to a 5. Objectives need to be clear and concise in order to gain buy-in from your reports, and SuccessFactors muddies that by poor delineation between cascaded attributes and my report's objectives. The whole objectives cascade can be reworked.
The in-person training was with a consultancy, we have taken several courses, all very specific. They have been reports in ecp, general configuration of ec, reports and IAS
We use SAP Learning, and we like it very much, the topics are updated along with the products, we have access to the SFX customer certifications and we have done them all, in general the SAP learning platform is very good and complete.
As we were new with all this, we would greatly appreciate if we had assitance directly from SAP so we can implement the modules with all of its features and best practices. Unfortunately, we notice that the partner left some thing incomplete.
We were very disappointed with D2L and Workday's ability to customize what or how content is shown to users. The platforms can be robust but the onboarding time for new administrators is much longer than Absorb. Workday's current offering (2023) for external learners is unacceptable for our use case and much more manual then Absorb's solutions. Workday does not have the ability to create engaging content or notifications to the user and the UI is pulled directly from the HCM with very little flexibility between the modules on look, feel or layout. While Thinkific was good for external users and monetization, it also lacked flexibility for multiple different demographics. EdApp while having a good mobile presence and quick turnaround for course creation, it's offerings for other engagement factors fell short of Absorb. Moodle can be a great LMS, but all of the features require you to plan and (potentially)code your requirements into the platform. This required time that we didn't have and to administrate the platform required additional personnel and resources for any changes we wanted to have after go live. We didn't have the time nor other organization resources available when launching so it couldn't be considered.
The recruiting module is much more user friendly than our prior system that was Taleo. Taleo had to many actions that required the recruiters to go from one system to another. We tracked that there were 117 steps that the recruiter had to make from beginning of req to its completion.
The scalability and flexibility of SuccessFactors is unbeatable. It is very easy to scale the product to new countries and areas, and with the help of CPI it can be easily integrated.
We did use this service to do analysis of the solution being implemented. It was a good check point during the project to see if everything is going as planned.
Course enrollments and completions have increased by 500% since implementation
Employee visits to our learning centre have increased by 300% since implementation
Cost saving from a time perspective as we can automate a lot of the admin work we used to do.
Pre Absorb we had about 3 or 4 e-learnings that were available. We now have over 100 that are accessible to all employees
Ability to seamlessly integrate with Workday and Udemy allowing all learning to be in one place, people data to be imported from WD, and very comprehensive reporting
As my project was using SAP ECC system for ERP, SuccessFactors was well integrated with the overall project as a whole due to its compatibility being a SAP product.
As I have have highlighted multiple time, using SAP Analytics Cloud, we built multiple reports with help of the analytics team that presented detailed visualizations of the available HCM data
