Pretty good as a basic CRM, decent as a support desk. Tries to do a lot, but doesn't excel at any one thing. Reasonably priced, though, and can be a component in a larger setup.

Workfront

I work on a team where each of us is separated individually from the United States. Workfront enables us to collectively collaborate on a common project setting individual goals. Project managers can invite users, send out updates and set goals to be marked as complete by individual users. Definitely an AAA+ option for global team project collaborations. Smaller projects with fewer working participants would most likely not benefit from the ROI for this product, however, if these smaller tasks are building to a larger project or your teams have multiple small projects running simultaneously then Workfront is for you as well.

  • Retainer Management - I am not sure we could run retainers effectively without it.
  • Hour Logging and Tracking.
  • Customer Email Tracking.

Workfront

  • Communication. By utilizing the updates tab within Workfront, the entire project team is aware of the status. This cuts down on our email threads and allows me to see how things are going on a project from a supervisor perspective.
  • Flexible task management. We have templates to streamline processes, but every once in a while something doesn't fit neatly into those processes. With Workfront, you can easily add a new task without disrupting the entire project.
  • Reporting. We've been able to utilize the reporting feature to give a real time look at how the team is performing. Where we need to make adjustments to help keep things moving on time.

  • Difficult to upload targets
  • Not easy to modify a target
  • When uploading targets you can not attach them to tags until after they are uploaded.
  • When listing opportunities in the system, you are limited with what stage the opportunity is in and the star system is not very helpful. The status' are very vague and not always accurate.

  • The resource planning tool is a little clunky to navigate and understand.
  • Would like to see more 'out of box' reports for dashboard suggestions.

Licence renewals are dependent on executive budgets. That being said, I would ask to have a single licence to manage my work if the licences for the team were not feasible.

I have witnessed users with a PMP background pickup the tool and use it to its full capacity within a week with very little training. Users without basic project management skills, however, have taken much longer with extensive one-on-one training. The tool is highly intuitive if you have a PM background.

After each training course, you are tested on what you have learned. If you need a refresher course, they provide Course Catalogs as well as instructor-led courses & workshops.

I would recommend all user's using Workfront to go through the training material provided. Have all user's practice in the Sandbox environment and have your workflow documented for the consultant before he arrives on site.

Accelo doesn't really exceed any competitors in any one area of their product, but in 2015 when we made the move this was the best option that included all the tools we wanted. However, user adoption was low in some areas due to the UI, so we scaled back Accelo and added other tools.

Workfront is 100x better for our organization! SharePoint, while it has many project management benefits, did not provide the project specific communication component that we so desperately needed.

Workfront's overall scalability is able to handle increased loads of work. When using Workfront for a project management tool for the web team, we store documents, images & video's without any issues. They work with their customer's to provide the best project management system in the market today! I highly recommend Workfront for all project management needs.
