It is well suited if you have a specific work force or are working in a production or an assembly line style environment. It is also well suited if you have small teams that have to get out a certain amount of product in set periods of time. AceProjects is great for monitoring how long each individual spent on their specific task and subsequently how long the team took to complete their work.

Teamwork Projects

If you are looking for something more than Trello, and want to avoid MS Projects or Basecamp, Teamwork would be a great fit. Also, if you don't need project/industry-specific capabilities (e.g. web development, programming, etc.) teamwork is a solid performer. I would guess it is ideally suited for smaller teams and SMBs, but maybe not enough of a platform for large enterprises.

Pros

  • Time Tracking
  • Resource allocation
  • Easy to implement, small adoption curve.

  • Projects allow you to create insanely detailed task lists and production schedules. One can assign projects to different users, set due dates (which update in your calendar), and set up simple scripts for task accomplishments based on previously completed tasks. There is a lot of variety to the ways you can set up task lists, so much that I continue to find new and better ways to use the system. You can also create templates to easily copy similar tasks to new projects.
  • Projects allow for client customization and project lists. It's very simple for me to create a new client and assign projects to them. If you are working on multiple projects for a client, the UI makes it easy to copy projects (to carry client details over). Clients are also listed under the project pane and it's so simple to jump from project to project.
  • Projects have a built-in task time tracker. This is great. Other applications either have unintuitive time trackers or nothing at all, meaning you'll need a third party application to track time. Project and business management are always done best if you can contain more of your work into a single software. That's the reality. You can clock time for projects specific to a task on the task list, and later do an in-depth analysis to see which projects or tasks are sucking up your time.
  • Teamwork has great customer service and troubleshooting. I've had a few issues, even initially with selecting a project management software, and getting onto chat with the team has been super fast and easy.

Cons

  • Expand on data tracking
  • Improve report generation
  • Break out from just being a time clock manager.

  • Being a SaaS application, Teamwork Projects can become sluggish during peak use.
  • Constant evolution of the application (a good thing!) can sometimes lead to sudden functionality bugs.
  • Dashboard is a bit messy and really not functional as named.
  • In-app reporting is weak, however data exports to .pdf for quick visuals, or .xlsx for data analysis solve this for my purposes.

We are already at an annual contract, and have been for the past 5 years; so far the system has delivered, and our personal is already trained in it. A major overhaul of our entire infrastructure (as in moving everything to a single, unified platform) might change the current continuity of Teamwork Projects on our organization, but that's not feasible in the near future.

The UI is clear, well laid out and very user friendly. The authors of the Teamwork Projects product have managd to cram a lot of detail into a small real estate without over-burdening the user.Adoption by my users has been extremely rapid with very little re-familiarisation required once they've got going.I do like the fact that there is an element of first-time user support embedded within the application. It means that I can point users to a sign-up page and spend very little time with them thereart

The support service provided by Teamwork is excellent, and one of the best I've experienced. This is for the following reasons:(1) The speed at which they respond to queries I raise(2) The depth of understanding they have of the product(3) The way in which they are able to understand my questions without needing me to re-explain(4) The quality of the documentation available online(5) The openness they express about current issues and downtime

I would say that Teamwork blows Trello out of the water, but Goodday may be better, especially when you consider the current price difference.I really don't like Trello. The part of Teamwork I don't like the most is Board View and Trello is basically just board view! Board view is kind of useless for having tasks that need to be done in order. The way I think is in lists. I want to log in and see the lists of everything I need to get done, with dates. In Trello I have to read through a bunch of cards on a bunch of different boards. To me it just seems difficult to organize. I also like marking something as complete way better than just moving a task to a "done" column or archiving a card.Goodday was FAST. It may be because they don't have as many users, I don't know, but the speed was incredible! I didn't realize how slow Teamworks loading time until I used Goodday. Goodday's organization is also very impressive. It can automatically make boards by priority, custom categories, and such. I think that is much better than having to go in and create a board view from scratch. Plus, last time I checked, Goodday is free!

Return on Investment

  • We were able to track our production teams work and refine our methods to improve deliverable dates.
  • Once our staff reached a certain size the capability of the software began to lag. Diminishing returns.
  • The lack of reporting features made data regression and extrapolation difficult.

  • Teamwork helps keep projects moving, which means they are more likely to be on time and thus provide new income.
