Achievers

Achievers is well suited as a rewards and recognition platform - which is what it was designed for. It's less appropriate for a company intranet to share files and documents with one another. Allowing users to do both on one platform would be a great solution for bridging the gap between corporate communication and rewards.

For a company of our size (a sales team of about 100), Xactly makes perfect sense. We are at the point where we have some manual exceptions to our process, but we'll really be able to build our plans into Xactly rather than building Xactly into our plans down the road. Prior to working at Diligent, I worked for another company where we had a sales force of nearly 500 employees and over 300 compensation plans for those employees. In that scenario, Xactly would have been very difficult and expensive to manage very customized incentive plans. But if you can implement the software while your business is in the growth stage before it's fully mature, you'll be able to work around that (and Xactly also encourages you to simplify plans, because you don't want to have to manage anything too complex in the system)!

Pros

  • Excellent selection within points catalog
  • Easy to use interface
  • Social media platform allowing for recognition to be seen company-wide

  • The statements show an easy to understand/customizable view of orders, credits, and commissions. It reduces the amount of effort sales reps need to put in to understanding their payments.
  • The automation that was implemented to connect to SFDC saves us a lot of time and frustration in having to validate and upload order details.
  • The flexibility of the tool helped us change our plans in a way that we couldn't have easily done in Excel.

Cons

  • Relevance of rewards catalog
  • Exchange rate of catalog items
  • Would be nice to see deeper integration with company intranets
Michael Whatley profile photo
  • Specific/inflexible link of crediting rules and types to Plans creates situations where multiple plans must be created to accommodate variations in credit source for what should, in essence, be the same plan. Would like ability to apply crediting rules to Positions vs. Plans.
  • Multiple and often duplicative steps required in position and plan creation (ie: rate tables and formulas) that draw out the process and create areas for errors to happen. Process could be streamlined for ease of use and for better flexibility in plan design.

Cost and in-house administration are the two biggest drivers of my renewal decision. If based solely on functionality, my rating and likelihood to renew would be lower.

When the commission structure (plans, rules, formulas etc) is set, it works great and there is no fluctuation. But getting to that point or having to change course once arrived, keeps it from being a 10,

Our sales rep was at the tip of the spear and provided amazing from side support - our implementation was complete within a month - we started actively using as a team and replaced Excel!

Xactly offers training on new releases on a monthly basis and training on basic principles regularly via registration. My experience with both is that they do not provide the in-depth knowledge necessary to truly master the system and advanced courses still do not go to the level needed to autonomously manage the system and plans. Professional services are a large part of any cloud based service such as Xactly and I feel a reliance on such paid consulting services is a great money-maker for Xactly.

Return on Investment

  • Positive: it has increased our company's ability to express gratitude for exceptional work
  • Positive: it has increased our company's overall morale
  • Negative: rewarding points for gratitude can be expensive depending on the size of the company

  • Building and testing new plans used to take weeks with our former product, this only takes hours (and in some case, minutes) with Xactly.
