Acquisio

Acquisio is ideal for marketing agencies, especially those that focus on serving a specific market. If your Agency has access to client data, depending on the data, Acquisio's software could be a powerful way to deliver that data in the form of online ads. Acquisio might be too powerful for a small business looking to manage campaigns in-house.

Google Analytics

For optimizations of anonymous tracking, google analytics is second to none--and it's free! Unless you have extremely high traffic... then it get's very expensive very fast. It is well suited for tracking multiple sales channels, across multiple devices, and allows for very granular tracking. GA supports annotations, providing invaluable context when viewing trends.

Pros

  • Acquisio does so many things to deserve praise. But where they excel above all others is in customer service. Everyone, and I mean everyone, from Client Service representative to the developers to the CEO, demonstrates that they value the relationship with their customers above all else. And that feels awesome.
  • Acquisio is focused on automation, scalability, and systematic performance improvement.
  • Acquisio's campaign cloner allows us to set up a campaign once and not only duplicate it from AdWords to Bing but sync the two, as well. This is a huge time saver and obviously also helps us to maintain consistency across the two publishers.

  • GA tracks user behaviors wonderfully
  • GA provides invaluable insights regarding the geographic dispersal of customers.
  • Paired with embeddable click events, GA is an indispensable solution for website conversion optimization.

Cons

  • Facebook management: You cannot manage Facebook directly through Acquisio. You can only see the data in the platform.
  • Campaign automation: The rules and algorithms takes a lot of time to be applied if you managed them manually.
  • LinkedIn: No LinkedIn integration available

  • The learning curve is steep.
  • There are so many features, you really run the risk of information overload.
  • There is little effort made to provide context, and so one must draw their own conclusions to drive actions.

Having had sync issues several times in the past, and with the recent Flash incompatibility issue, if there was a way to generate reports that had the same high level of control and professional, streamlined look, with less time investment, we would look into it.

Having used Google Analytics for the last 9 years, I have no intention of discontinuing my service. Google Analytics is a fantastic product that provides me with almost everything I could wish for. The positives in this product outweigh any negatives that you might find. I can not think of a single reason to not immediately start using Google Analytics for your business.

Google Analytics provides a wealth of data, down to minute levels. That is it's greatest detriment: find the right information when you need it can be a cumbersome task. You are able to create shortcuts, however, so it can mitigate some of this problem. Google is continually refining Analytics, so I do not doubt there will be improvements

Alternatives Considered

Not quite as seamless as Marin whose editing tool seemed better but also not as expensive and fit better into our agency's budget.

I have been exclusively using Google Analytics for several years. Previous to that, I have used Hitbox from WebSideStory which is now owned by Adobe, so I cannot really make a fair comparison to the feature sets. At the time, Hitbox was a very powerful tool, but didn't have the capabilities that GA has today (or at least it wasn't as easy to implement.)

Return on Investment

  • I would say it's had a positive impact, since we can aggregate ROAS data more easily for eComm, especially.
Amanda West-Bookwalter profile photo
  • GA has only had a positive impact for myself and my clients. Utilizing the data from Google Analytics, we have been able to optimize landing pages, shopping carts, and content to only improve our acquisition, reduce abandonment rates and follow through with successful conversions.
