Acquisio

Acquisio is great for agencies or anyone managing a large account or multiple accounts. The reporting feature alone makes it worthwhile - no more manually pulling data from multiple sources! The reports help with day to day management too. If you only manage one small account, Acquisio may not be for you, but if you're running multiple accounts it's a must.

RavenTools

RavenTools attempts to amalgamate SEO, content management, social media, web analytics, e-commerce, PPC, and email marketing into one platform. I would suggest it only if you have one person doing all of those things (which you really shouldn't anyway). It doesn't really make sense for a team because there are far more robust tools available for each of those individual parts, and a free program like Google Analytics can cover the majority of those categories with added flexibility.

Pros

  • Automated Rules: Acquisio allows the use and creation of rule based automation to perform tasks based on what you've outlined.
  • KPI's: Within the platform, there is the ability to track spend or other important KPI's throughout the month and see the on-track progress being made.
  • Reporting: The reporting system allows for automated reporting, so an account specialist does not have to spend time every reporting period recreating the same report. The flexibility of date ranges and data points is very helpful in building data driven reporting.

  • The reporting module allows us to easily customize reports. We can add or remove modules depending on whether the reports are going to be internal or external.
  • Raven allows us to aggregate all of our Analytics, AdWords and social accounts so that we can present a complete Integrated Marketing Report.
  • Raven makes it easy to edit the variables in the reports such as comparisons between time periods, number of items presented in a table, and sort order.

Cons

  • Reporting: Even though this platform is great, there are still some areas for improvement with the UI and some more micro-functionality that most specialist will deem important in the reporting process.
  • Editor: This tool, integrated into the overall platform could be a huge selling feature if there was the ability to make edits offline like other bid management software or if the UI was a little faster and more intuitive to account changes.
  • KPI's: Even though this is a huge plus, there are some micro-management issues in regards to tracking spend throughout the month or other KPI's if a campaign didn't start on the first of the month.

  • I really wish RavenTools provided additional reporting for other social media platforms, particularly right now... Instagram
  • If RavenTools could track and report on hashtag engagement across the social media platforms they already integrate with, that would also be a huge benefit.
  • Would be great if RavenTools could provide comparison data for reporting based on similar industry types or verticals

I think the platform, with the latest release updates has a lot of great potential. The main decision, currently, is price and how that gets passed on to our clients. There has to be a conscious decision made on platform cost vs client spend and overall budget vs revenue.

I switched companies and now use Moz. I think I'd recommend Moz over Raven given the chance.

Certain areas, Social Media scheduling, could stand to undergo a complete overhaul. However, most of the RavenTools interface is easy to use. You will not have any issues getting up and running and should there be an issue, the customer service is really good. They also continue to preform updates that make the usability even better

Support

My experience with Acquisio is a tale of two situations. We had a customer service rep named Jeannie who was supernaturally gifted at anticipating and solving our issues. Her response time was so fast it felt like she was responding before I even hit SEND on our emails. Jeannie was deservedly promoted and support has been a little slower and we have had to make multiple requests to get answers since.

RavenTools has some of the best Customer Support I have ever received. They are quick to respond and will keep you posted on the progress of your issue. You truly feel as if you are getting customized service. No human is perfect and I have had one situation in which I had to reach out multiple times, but overall I fully trust and approve of their process

Alternatives Considered

Not quite as seamless as Marin whose editing tool seemed better but also not as expensive and fit better into our agency's budget.

Many of the other tools I've tried have all usually had a particular segment or function that really sets them apart in that area. Many of these other tools are more expensive overall as well. RavenTools, for my business and client needs, has consistently provided the broadest range of acceptable functionality in areas while still remaining affordable for me.

Return on Investment

  • Has allowed me to manage more social ads (Facebook, Twitter)
  • Has improved CPA and CPC performance for almost all of my accounts year over year
Tom Bonanno profile photo
  • Increased employee efficiency - even new employees and interns were able to pick up the basics of RavenTools
  • With the link building tracking tools, we were able to more efficiently perform our link building duties
  • Reporting tools provided useful and powerful information that were utilized in reporting and in decks.
