For us here in New Orleans hurricanes are of great concern. In the case of [a hurricane] relocating your family from one location to another can be extremely hectic. With inSync we are able to move the data from on system to another with little to no interruption to our workforce.Depending on your business case, it may be appropriate to keep your data close.

Pros

  • Image based backups. After the initial backup, the backups happen quite quickly. This allows for multiple backups per day.
  • We have different classes of data which requires different retention policies. Acronis makes that easy to manage.
  • Restoration can be done directly to hardware or to a VM. This makes it easy to migrate a physical server to a VM.

  • The first and foremost thing about Druva is user friendliness for both administrators and users.
  • Easy deployment and upgrades of clients.
  • User is able to recover the data by themselves by using web or client.
  • No performance lagging issues when Druva is installed.

Cons

  • Support staff does not always have answers and sometimes has to escalate issues.
  • A better way to integrate yearly subscriptions into the contract.
  • Better notifications of backup alerts.

  • Only thing I am expecting are slight security improvements.
  • While doing .pst files backup, it should compress at much as possible. Since these days users have more data in mail than [the] system.
  • After upgrading to new version, the ability to roll back to the older version in case of any issues.

We have renewed our subscription over the course of a few years now. We used to use Backup Exec and it was tedious and difficult to obtain our backups when needed. Acronis just fits our environment style and the way we prefer to do business and use our third party software.

I give it a rating of 9 do to its ease of usability. It's ease of understanding how to setup - form - fit - and function. I have no sorrows when having to login to the console in order to setup a new backup schedule or retrieve and recover lost data.

We have only had to contact support a hand full of times. The reason for this 9 out of 10 is do to how quickly and cooperative they have been on the rare occasion we needed to chat with them about our small questions or queries with potential issues do to the nature of our business.

We can get immediate support and response. Online chat is also available where technicians are responding immediately. They will carefully listen and understand our issues and then provide the recommendations and actions. Once the issue solved they will follow up to make sure the customer didn't have the issue again and the issue is resolved.

I don't have any real key 'insights' per say except that it wasn't difficult at all, and do not be afraid to dabble in its tools and settings. It is quite intuitive with built in common sense. I cannot say enough good things about our companies experience when using this backup software.

Alternatives Considered

Much better interface and data recovery. Tech support is also much better.

Admittedly it has been a while since I utilized the Symantec endpoint protection product at another company. It was cumbersome and not user friendly. Druva is easy to deploy, stays mostly invisible to the end user but is easy to use if they need to make changes or restore data

It is really very open and customizable in what you want to back up. From specific files to a complete system image, you can set it up the way you need to. You can also designate the backup location which is excellent because different people (or different sized organizations) would have different requirements. Overall, it is suitable for everyone, from an individual user to a large organization.

Return on Investment

  • Very easy to use. Requires very little continued administration once properly set up. Restoring backups, when necessary is simple as well
  • Being able to back up Windows Servers and other critical PCs, in a manner that I can virtually boot them back up at any time, is incredible. This saved us money, too, migrating off of a similar solution that cost almost 3 times as much
  • The automated task allows to run over night task of backup to decrease the impact of network traffic of our office allowing us to be safe and well backed up against unexpected incidents
