robust in nature and a manageable solution available for use as a powerful
marketing tool. It is compiled of a lot of exceptional services with the best
contact and customer management tool. Support needs a lot of attention, as it
needs to be changed and they must have to be more responsive and helpful to
become the best in the market.

  • Lots of fields for adapting the software to your own requirements.
  • Excellent tracking of activities/details in sales pipeline process.
  • Excellent robust reporting to provide a very clear picture of prospecting activities.
  • Tightly integrated with Sage Quantum accounting software to avoid double entry of prospect details into Customer/Sales module.

  • The CRM holds all of my contacts and it is already integrated with all of my other tools.
  • The Email Management system is already integrated with all of my other tools. This means that I do not have to download CSVs and upload them to a separate email program everytime I want to send out an email blast.
  • I can take payments in the same system that has my email marketing and CRM. This means that I can create tags and send different email campaigns depending on if I have received payment or not.
  • The website hosting means that I can use the same software to update my blog and gallery of food pictures.
  • I can sell tickets to my cooking classes from the same software that manages everything else that I do in my business.
  • I use the task manager that is built in to remind me of things I need to do. I really like that it is tied into my CRM so I can tag tasks to specific clients.
  • The built in timecard system allows me to "clock in" to whatever client that I am working on so that my time and hourly rate are automatically calculated for me. My invoices are sent automatically on the first of each month.

Cons

  • Social Integration: The tool has a basic feed for LinkedIn information to feed into the system. The infusion of more Social Selling "signals" and "feeds" would be very helpful to instill more social selling into the framework.
  • Account vs. Contact: If you are a company which works to B to B rather than B to C there is a still a bit of cumbersome way to handle "joining" accounts and contacts through links. It is better with 16.1 release but still it's a "contact" centric solution which is great for some business relationships like realtors, insurance, & financial services etc.

ACT follows the basic rules you would expect for this type of software, but actually doing anything sophisticated with it is near impossible without assistance or training. Unless you use it regularly it is difficult to use. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have internal IT support and it will be used regularly.

Following a few interactions with support staff over the phone where we failed to correct the issues we were calling about, we ended up going back to the consultant who we purchased the software through and continued to use her for support rather than call Swiftpage ACT! directly. Our consultant was much more helpful in finding and correcting our issues.

Alternatives Considered

Act! CRM

Although other CRM's like HubSpot offer a free solution, I found that it didn't give much and the add-ons were very expensive. Many other companies have interfaces that are clunky or hard to understand. Also I found that many just offer way too many features that we would never use that just made it more difficult to use what we needed. The customized options are just way to expensive for the simplistic offering we need. Swiftpage ACT! just provides a solution that works for us.

  • I don't have to remember to contact a prospect, ACT! remembers for me, letting me schedule follow ups for a date and time that works for me. That means greater sales success.
  • ACT! enables me to search for information as well as contacts.
