robust in nature and a manageable solution available for use as a powerful
marketing tool. It is compiled of a lot of exceptional services with the best
contact and customer management tool. Support needs a lot of attention, as it
needs to be changed and they must have to be more responsive and helpful to
become the best in the market.

DemandTools

Great for general data management. Today alone, I've used DemandTools products to push a new list of leads into Salesforce, take a mass list of customer contacts and update a field required for a new process, and to check the current state of our duplicates in the CRM.My main hurdle with DemandTools is that it lacks the ability to build automated data cleansing processes into the system that will tie into the CRM like some of the competitors in the industry.

  • Social Integration: The tool has a basic feed for LinkedIn information to feed into the system. The infusion of more Social Selling "signals" and "feeds" would be very helpful to instill more social selling into the framework.
  • Account vs. Contact: If you are a company which works to B to B rather than B to C there is a still a bit of cumbersome way to handle "joining" accounts and contacts through links. It is better with 16.1 release but still it's a "contact" centric solution which is great for some business relationships like realtors, insurance, & financial services etc.

  • I wish I could make changes to my existing scenarios using save rather than having to create a whole new scenario. Maybe you can, I just haven't been able to.
  • Some features aren't user intuitive and it takes a while to learn.

It's a great product. The only thing that holds us back is it was frustrating working with their sales team. We also don't like that when Validity purchased DemandTools they immediately started charging us quite a bit while it had been free for non-profit users when CRMFusion owned it. They also don't let you buy it for just 1 or 2 seats, you have to pay, I believe, in batches of 100 seats.

ACT follows the basic rules you would expect for this type of software, but actually doing anything sophisticated with it is near impossible without assistance or training. Unless you use it regularly it is difficult to use. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have internal IT support and it will be used regularly.

Following a few interactions with support staff over the phone where we failed to correct the issues we were calling about, we ended up going back to the consultant who we purchased the software through and continued to use her for support rather than call Swiftpage ACT! directly. Our consultant was much more helpful in finding and correcting our issues.

Help for specific queries not not there. Product tech support is offered. It would be great if query support, even if paid, was offered
The training webinars help with the basics but not much if you need advanced functionality.

Alternatives Considered

Act! CRM

Although other CRM's like HubSpot offer a free solution, I found that it didn't give much and the add-ons were very expensive. Many other companies have interfaces that are clunky or hard to understand. Also I found that many just offer way too many features that we would never use that just made it more difficult to use what we needed. The customized options are just way to expensive for the simplistic offering we need. Swiftpage ACT! just provides a solution that works for us.

DemandTools

I have used DataLoader. It is a simple tool for inserts, upserts and deletions of records in a single object. It's great if you have a spreadsheet of ID's that need a field change. It is extremely limited, and has none of the additional features of functionality of DemandTools. You cannot de-duplicate, you cannot cross reference objects, you cannot batch jobs, and you cannot schedule data cleaning activities. It is VERY limited, but it is free for 10,000 rows of data a month. Salesforce has a couple of mass edit and delete features, but it is extremely limited to records in a single object.

  • I'm not sure I can answer this. I am a one man crew. They never considered hiring anyone to help me, but I do know its significantly reduced my workload. I used to spend a 12 hours de-duping our audit logs. it was an all day job. I can now do it in 5 minutes. Similarly, I used to spend 12 hours, analyzing our duplicates beans and I now do it in 5 minutes.
