Act-On is a great program for organizations who are on the smaller end. The system is easy to navigate and teach to others, which is crucial to the success of an organization that values time and efficiency. Each of the platforms are important in the success of marketing campaigns and gathering information to then succeed down the line. Act-On was able to sync with our database giving us information on multiple layers.

This should be the first piece of technology purchased if you're firing up an ABM-ABE program. After setting up a process you want to focus on metrics first.However - Make sure your data is cleaned up first! No, really! If you don't have that fixed, you don't want to start this yet.

  • List Management. Act-On has some powerful segmentation tools that complement the automated programs very well. Act-On lets you really slice and dice your lists however you see fit. Connected to Salesforce, Act-On becomes super-charged.
  • Automated Programs. You can then take your targeted segments and create robust automated programs that can be tailored into specific tracks for your targeted audience.
  • Webinar Programs. If you use GotoWebinar or WebEx, managing the webinar is a breeze. Act-On will handle the invitations, registrations, reminders and post-event follow-up for you. It works really well.

  • Enables ABM-focused analytics in SFDC. Helpfully puts many things into SFDC-native fields to enable cross-object reporting, alerts, workflow, etc.
  • Account-level reporting - sent right to my reps inboxes based on segment.
  • Doing a lot to help automate plays, as well as thought leadership to consistently give the market new ideas on how to do those brilliantly.

Act-On

  • It is one of the most expensive tools on the market, the price, compared to other similar tools, is very high.
  • It's a little difficult to get accustomed to this software, it looks like it's designed for people that already have experience in the marketing and campaigns space.
  • There are some necessary features, like contacts and sales users limitations, that are only available at higher pricing tiers, despite being already expensive for some of the lower tiers.

It's good, but not quite brilliant. Some parts of the interface are still a bit outdated. The product has been evolving very fast, though, and I believe in a few months it will be up there with the best of them, interface wise as well.

Act-On had a lot of resources, and their staff was great at answering any questions I had to make sure we got started on the right foot. Looking back, I would have preferred some additional training sessions since we didn't have any previous experience with Marketing Automation and best practices.

Act-On

HubSpot - Great templates for email and landing pages. Fantastic for targeted content if you have a large amount of content. Free CMS. Very good sales people promise a lot. But for our test experience, the service support did not stand up to Act-On. And our HubSpot testing indicated that costs would be hard to control as the help desk was of little help with basic problems - always handing us over to consultants who charge for support. The free CMS seemed like a no-brainer in comparisons but we became concerned that if we used HubSpot as our CMS, we may struggle to disentangle ourselves if we needed to in the future. Act-On is not as sophisticated as HubSpot. But for support - which you will need unless you are an experienced platform user - it is critical to our success. It also comes down to how much time you have to learn the system you have chosen - you only get out what you put in. Act-On is simpler and a better fit for our smaller team
