Act-On

If you have an existing CRM system, like Microsoft 365, you can integrate campaign automation with Act-On, and then it is worth most of the time it takes to get less-experienced employees on-boarded. In other cases that require more minimal use, the on-boarding may be too lengthy. In that case, it may be better-suited to choose a different SaaS that tracks campaign, ROI, lead scoring, etc.

I feel that this is a very good email marking system. You really can accomplish any task needed for your email marketing needs. I think that if a few key features were added, it would really take Lyris HQ over the top. We are very happy with this product and we tell our clients about it when they ask us.

Pros

  • Customer service. Act-on is the leader in client support for training, basic tips and trouble shooting to planning our Act-On strategy. The Act-On team is flexible, friendly, engaged and collaborative.
  • Act-On does not over-complicate its offering. It is visually appealing and intuitive. Some platforms are just too complicated to keep on top of. We are a small team with a busy marketing schedule. We do not depend a great deal on online lead generation for our growth, however Act-On is still a good fit for us.
  • Trust. No surprises once we had signed our agreement. In fact, our expectations were exceeded.
  • Value - price for service.

Cons

  • I would really like to see the "send over time" feature be added back to the webinar messaging. This feature is very important for maintaining a low bounce rate.
  • It would be nice to allow for more flexibility with the information processed in funnel reports. Not all of the options available will allow for the data that we are looking for.
  • They need to design a better functioning more realistic marketing calendar.

  • I would like the ability to delete more than one segment at a time. It becomes tedious to delete our segments from the previous month, sometimes there are over 100.
  • I think there should be a functionality added specifically forgeographical blasts, maybe with a map to more easily determine geographical radius'.
  • Easier functionality for A/B testing, rather than creating two distribution groups.

These features are the right-size for us. Period. End. We could go cheap and go back to how we use to "market" but that wasn't engagement and we didn't know what our members were seeing and interested in. Through Act-On we have an affordable and easy platform that hits nearly every one of our needs.

Overall Lyris HQ was a great product. The only negative I have and I'm not sure this is still the case as I've been away from them for almost 8 months, is their support has some room to grow. And they need to work drastically on their API offerings and at least cover the major programming languages.

Act-On had a lot of resources, and their staff was great at answering any questions I had to make sure we got started on the right foot. Looking back, I would have preferred some additional training sessions since we didn't have any previous experience with Marketing Automation and best practices.

Implementation was one of the most painful parts for us as we had to find and create our own library to interface with Lyris's SOAP API interface which still to this day is one of the top libraries used in its language.

I'm sure our team went through the whole vetting process. I was not involved in that part so I am unable to really say how Act-On compares to other solutions in the market. I can say that my experience has been nothing less than excellent and that I think my team made the right decision

Return on Investment

  • As stated in a previous section, one positive impact we have seen so far is the fact that we are more productive and efficient. We are no longer chasing after prospects that are not really interested in purchasing our product.
  • Our marketing team is able to produce nice reports to present at our team meetings every week.
  • The customer support has been so amazing. I needed help with something and had my answer within an hour! I was very impressed by the level of service Act-On provides to their customers.

  • More defined lists for third party blasts, which turns into more leads for the clients. Which is more money in our pocket.
  • Some segmentation pulls do take a long time, thus leading to multiple requests and a time suck for myself.
