We are a community theatre and ThunderTix works great for us. We would believe any type of organization that plans and runs events would find it as beneficial as we do.

Pros

  • I like the appearance of the booking confirmations - it is more visually appealing.
  • The booking module is fairly simple and user friendly.
  • It works with our campus financial system and allows the system to take payments for bookings, which we cannot do with EMS currently.

  • Listens and responds to customer suggestions and implements changes based on user community suggestions.
  • One of the easiest systems to use. We tried several and this was the easiest we found by far.

Cons

  • I really like the look and feel of ActiveNet Reporting, but it isn't extremely customizable. Maybe there is something I am missing, but other employees have shared that same feedback.
  • It would be nice to have the system synchronize with other software we use. (EMS, StarRez, etc.) When planning conferences, we currently have hotel guests and registration that we would like to share information for through each system. Currently it is just double data entry.
  • Would like to be able to add more resources and details to a room booking and have the corresponding departments be notified of the order/track inventory.

They are quick to respond to both calls and email. They also have a robust online set of documentation and tools that offer the possibility of finding your own answer. But, even if you don't use it, ThunderTix never asks the "did you check our online resources" questions. They never complain about emails or calls. They are there to help and do a fantastic job!

Alternatives Considered

I would continue using ActiveNet over EMS only because it connects and talks back to Banner, which EMS currently lacks. Otherwise I am not sure I would choose it over anything else as the functionality isn't quite the same as the competition.

We felt ThunderTix was easier to use not to mention lower in cost to us and to our patrons.

  • Not sure yet.
  • It is newer to me and my department.
  • Double data entry which is just extra man hours.

  • It has reduced our administration time. We were doing a lot of manual work before. Patrons had to leave voice messages and we would return them.
  • It allows our patrons to self-service their own requests and get immediate service instead of waiting on us to return calls.

The monthly license price is based on the number of tickets allotted per month at each edition. The greater the plan, the greater number of tickets are available to sell per month of service. Editions are variable and can be upgraded and downgraded each month. For annual or seasonal events, accounts can be put into Maintenance Mode for $10/month after an event concludes until the time they are ready to sell again for the following year.
