Adaptive Insights is well-suited for accommodating different areas within the organization that have different cost drivers and/or have different allocation needs. The capability to design planning sheets using the lookup values offers flexibility that was difficult to produce with confidence in our other planning tool. Using dimensions and attributes within our organization's design, allows the ability to dissect data in different ways and report in more flexible formats to meet user needs. In addition, the OfficeConnect plug-in with Adaptive offers expanded Board reporting capabilities where Adaptive Reporting may come up short. The Discovery Dashboard provides quick visuals for C-Suite on demand.

Best suited as a highly customized and compact EPM / BI solution (<100 CCU) with individual workflows, planning and reporting functionalities, with moderate number of users (no restrictions for any industry, all industries are covered well). It also has advanced reporting & data analysis requirements and provides an integration and reporting layer of imported data from different external systems (via ETL). It can help with migrating your legacy Excel-based business models to the Web. It is not well suited for Enterprise BI applications with expecting >500 CCU (users at the same time working with the system). This may cause serious performance issues, even if Jedox will tell you different things because all of the data is kept in RAM (MOLAP technology). Applications with heavy document management requirements (document management is not an out of the box functionality in Jedox and rather requires custom development through custom widgets etc.).

  • I love how easy it is to track software and general amortizations in Adaptive. The software has been an issue with my past employers, but it flows very easily here in Adaptive.
  • We also use Adaptive's OfficeConnect for easy reporting. It has helped us automate our reporting as we work with internal departments. We have the reports built, and the software and can refresh all of them simultaneously, reducing generation time and giving us more time for analysis.
  • We are building out more operational metrics now. We are starting to track sales opportunities across different business segments to see the correlation between spending activities and opportunity generation. This helps us set better targets in the future. This paired with OfficeConnect also makes it very easy to track and report on operational metrics in addition to financial metrics.

  • Using the Excel add-in means that our team was almost instantly productive, being able to use a familiar interface to present and manipulate data.

  • When trying to learn about a new feature or a feature I have not used previously it is sometimes difficult to find that information on the help section.
  • Adaptive can be deployed through consultants when they do not have specialized knowledge like higher education. This sometimes makes it difficult to determine who to contact when experiencing issues with the model after implementation.
  • You are limited to one master chart of accounts. When you have multiple businesses this can cause some difficulties that can be overcome, but takes additional thought and planning and can cause issues when making changes.

  • Diversity. Jedox can be applied to many different use cases from small to large deployments and from budgeting to enterprise class BI solutions. But rarely is one tool able to fulfill all of these requirements in one organisation. This value proposition can be complicated for prospective users.
  • Awareness. Jedox punches above its weight in capability and scalability, but not enough people have heard about it and therefore procurement processes can be drawn out as a result.

Menus are easy to navigate, sheets are straightforward and flexible and you can work on your budget/forecasts without being at the office. The cloud based system makes it easy for users to complete their processes offsite and without needing there work provided computer. Creating new reports using both the web based Adaptive tool and OfficeConnect is quite simple with very minimal training.

To me Jedox deserves 10/10 because it is a consistent one-in-all platform with a modern look and feel. It is intuitive to use and allows you to make intuitive applications integrating traditional business intelligence with performance management functionality. It certainly has a short
learning curve, especially for those that are familiar with MS Excel. An example: I've lost count but Jedox it is available in more than 25 languages. Another: Jedox does not require programming skills... it is developed to be used by the business.

Jedox support in general is a professional and fast responding team. An easy-to-use ticketing system is in place. Bug-related questions are solved fast (responses come usually in a few hours after the question), but some questions / tickets, that are not Jedox-related bugs (for example some advanced questions about Jedox functionality), may be forwarded to Application Management team for further processing and then it may take several days or even weeks to get a response here -> there is room for improvement here.

Jedox goed beyond traditional BI. That means that it is more important to pick an implementation partner that understands your business. A partner that can anticipate your next requirements. Using the performance management functionality of Jedox, integrating BI with forecasting, workflow, planning takes the solution closer to key (decision) making processes. People do not only use Jedox for insight, reporting, dashboards and analytics but to share expectations and comments to better drive the business. This kind of rich functionality requires a very good functional design before you implement it. That is, if you want to benefit fully what it has to offer. Technically implementing Jedox is relatively easy. In fact, according thousands of business users that participate in the yearly Business Application Research Centre (BARC) Survey, it is the best do-it-yourself BI/performance management system on the market

For us, it came down to Adaptive Insights and Host Analytics. The benefits seemed very comparable. We ultimately decided on Adaptive Insights because it cost less to implement and the time to implement was less compared to Host Analytics. We are VERY happy with our decision to go with Adaptive Insights.

Jedox Base which has been removed from the market used to be a free option in the in-memory database space capable of write back/modelling. Now the company wants to move in the "Enterprise" space but the product doesn't have the required scalability and is still running on outdated open source server technologies.

Scalability is one of the disadvantages of Jedox. Applications with >100 CCU (of course this number is very rough, as it also depends on the complexity of the application) scale poorly in comparison to other EPM vendors. With Jedox it is difficult to scale big applications as there are no standardized / easy-to-implement ways to do it. As a matter of fact, even a classic two-tier architecture (separate olap and web servers) is pretty complicated to implement with Jedox (when we keep in mind, that we are in the 21st century and you would expect to set it up in a few clicks during the Jedox installation, but you actually have to go through a bunch of Jedox config files on each server and edit the IP's and other parameters by hand in several redundant places / files to set it up properly and working; here I dont even start to speak about setting-up load balancing, adding more servers etc. ).
