It is well suited for mid-size companies to have a budgeting, forecasting, and reporting platform. The system needs data and someone to maintain it so it would not be well suited for a small company or one without a dedicated finance team.

I think it is well suited to a medium to larger size company to help manage customers, especially when sales managers are changing territories. This allows them to have all the background information on their new customers in one place. I think it may be overkill and too cumbersome for a smaller company (10 or less users). Following are some important questions to ask: Do you have a way to integrate data from outside systems, is there a record number or file storage allotment, how do you manage/delete old/outdated information, do you have an automated process for assigning accounts/leads, and how easy or hard is it to customize?

Pros

  • Infinite ability to group accounts and departments for reporting. The only limitation is the number of ways that you think of in terms of consolidating the information.
  • Being able to build scalable, complex, distributed, budget models. With the data we can bring into the system and the formulas we can use we have all the functionality of the spreadsheet, but with the flexibility to allow leaders across the organization to participate and update their section.
  • The platform allows multiple forecast/budget versions which allows for version control and sensitivity analysis. I can lock versions from changes while quickly creating a new version to see the impact of a +or- scenario to the company’s profitability.
  • With the OfficeConnect tool we can leverage Excel to provide repeatable reports for the board and other business leaders that are repeatable from month to month. While the platform provides more flexibility than an accounting package it still has limitations. Using OfficeConnect I can leverage the power of the Microsoft suite of Excel/Word/PowerPoint directly.

  • The format of reports when downloaded to Excel or PowerPoint could use improvement.
  • Would be nice if you could inactivate GL accounts when they are no longer being used.
  • Suppress rows functionality when set by the administrator to default to suppress if not data doesn't always seem to work.

Menus are easy to navigate, sheets are straightforward and flexible and you can work on your budget/forecasts without being at the office. The cloud based system makes it easy for users to complete their processes offsite and without needing there work provided computer. Creating new reports using both the web based Adaptive tool and OfficeConnect is quite simple with very minimal training.

I give this rating because I personally don't have any difficulty using the system. I didn't have any difficulty learning the system either. I know that in my position I am taking complaints from users who are having issues with the oracle sites but most of the time it is user error or a technical issue and they need to be using it in the best way possible. I do think it is one of the easiest sites for applying online and hiring candidates. In my 10 years of dealing with so many other recruiting and career sites like Kenexa Brassring, Erecruit or Peoplesoft, I don't recommend any of those at all. Oracle CRM/Taleo is by far the easiest site for applicants to apply, the easiest site for recruiters to hire and the easiest site to manage your hires.

I give this rating because I don't have any complaints in the area of performance. In my opinion the product's performance is right on the mark. In comparison to other systems I have used for the same purpose - recruiting, hiring and managing hires, I have found Oracle's performance to be the best. Oracle system flows better than any other recruiting system out there.

Support requests are always handled promptly and resolved favourably.Many user support requests arise during initial deployment and use and often represent questions relating to best methods or how to approach their particular situation, which we gladly assist with as we provide the appropriate skills transfer training and assistance.As clients become more knowledgeable in working with the product suite then they tend not to ask many questions.

I give this rating based only on the fact where I believe the support team could improve a little. I believe the area they could improve is timeliness of a resolution. It seems to take a long time to get a final resolution. There is some back and forth typically when I believe a lot of times all of the information is there to provide a response. I have found that if you call them you will get a response a lot faster than if you submit an SR on the Oracle site but most of our team will complete the SR online so that is my only complaint. The support is excellent in every other area. The speed at which we receive a solution online is only thing I would improve.

We didn't have any issues with the training at all. The only thing I would say would that there could be more FAQ's for users to read through

When we implement Oracle and Taleo to different clients it typically goes pretty smoothly. When we do system upgrades we usually test the main issues the clients are having just to make sure there are not outstanding issues or errors. I don't have any examples where implementation went poorly. It typically goes well and clients are pleased with the final result. The only complaint would be the time it takes to implement

Alternatives Considered

To be honest - Host Analytics seemed relatively similar to Adaptive. However, Adaptive was our number one choice because:- The Adaptive suite looked a lot better. It seemed smarter and "sharper" and the data visualisation was better.- The people from Adaptive throughout the selection process were more helpful and insightful. This was confirmed throughout the implementation where we had really excellent service and help from Adaptive.

On top of that, Oracle CRM offers a free trial to new customers where they can acquire the software and use to assess whether the software will bring a positive influence once the acquire the final product. This makes it easy to acquire and use Oracle CRM in your company.

Return on Investment

  • Month-end reporting: It's hard to say how much time Adaptive Insights has provided, but I can say we no longer have formula errors in Excel reports and refreshing financial statements every month only takes a couple of clicks.
  • Budgeting/forecasting: We have saved a tremendous amount of time in our budgeting cycle. After importing a budget in Adaptive Insights and setting up the model with formulas, we are able to copy the most recent budget version into the next budget version and review. Being able to budget in Adaptive Insights also removes the possibility of formula and linking errors that come with Excel.

  • Having already used Oracle ERP in our university we found that additional licenses for the CRM product were highly subsidized. Hence we found a great use for the product without incurring too much overhead expenses.
