It is much better to prospect brands and find appropriate contacts at a parent account, and not such a strong suit for agencies.

Rapportive

There's really no reason to not use Rapportive. It's free, easy to install, and shows you the LinkedIn profile and photo of the people you're exchanging emails with. It doesn't work as well if the people you email with don't use the particular email address for LinkedIn

Pros

  • Provides email addresses - essential when doing cold email outreach.
  • Provides agencies for each brand/company.
  • Provides media spend for parent company and brand.
Bryan Silverman profile photo
  • It's very smooth. When I hover over an email address, the page pops up immediately. It quickly changes between profiles as I hover over different email addresses.

Cons

  • Updating who works on each brand from the brand side.
  • Updating who works on each brand from the agency side.
  • Not having to log in as often.
Bryan Silverman profile photo
  • Rapportive could show recent tweets or Facebook posts. This would provide a better picture of how this person communicates and what they're interested in.
  • Pulling in content from profile websites like about.me would be really nice.

Rapportive is simple and great at what it does. Plus I anticipate they'll probably add more features in the future.

Alternatives Considered

Winmo allows more dynamic and functional searches, and puts agency and brand contacts in one place. It also allows exports based on spend and in general, is much more dynamic of a software.

I've never used other tools like Rapportive so would be difficult to comment on how it stacks up against other tools like it

Return on Investment

  • Improved efficiency of prospecting.
  • Improved efficiency of finding emails and email syntax.
Bryan Silverman profile photo
  • It has been a convenience tool for me, not a revenue generator, as I primarily use it for the in-inbox LinkedIn lookup
