It is very quick to integrate with the application. You will start earning within a few days. It has a well-written API. You can go for it if you want a quick implementation but if you want to highly customize your ads then Admob is not a good [fit]. It has also less CPC in comparison to its competitors.

I think iAd works best when it's possible to create a fresh immersive experience. If you're only using the platform to repurpose content a user could easily find elsewhere, it may not be worth their time or yours. If the product or message supports development of content that provides value, entertainment or otherwise, for a user, the platform offers ample opportunity

  • It has a good fill rate, for our applications we got around 99.9% to 100%.
  • Better targetted ads, so it increases CTR.

Cons

  • Admob provides fewer CPCs compares to its competitors in the market.
  • Earning report needs to have a dashboard so that the user can easily monitor their earnings. There needs to be dashboard which shows aggregated reports as well as [reports] on application level.

  • There were certain features of the mobile devices we weren't able to access, such as vibration, which could've enhanced the overall user experience.
  • The development process could've been more streamlined for creatives and marketers not intimately familiar with the platform.
  • More functionality in the initial banners could've resulted in increased engagement.

Alternatives Considered

We have used a few other ad networks, but they are not suited to our requirements. Admob has the best fill rate for Indian apps, that others lack. For our few apps that target USA and European customers, we use Mobclix. Admob has also fewer configurable thresholds for payments. For payment and taxation, they provide options which are as per the state laws.

In some instances, we developed an experience for AdMob simultaneously with our iAd experience, working with both teams on a daily basis. While the Google team was skilled, receptive and helpful, Apple device functionality was broader and thus allowed for a little more imagination in bringing intuitive relevance to the creative content we developed

Return on Investment

  • We got a return on our investment very quickly, it's very easy to integrate with less development effort.
  • It needs less maintenance work.
