Adobe Acrobat DC is truly one of the most versatile applications that we use based largely in part to flexibility and protection of the documents that we send out. Because the free reader is available, we can be assured that those that need a document do not have to have a Microsoft subscription to open a Word document.

Adobe Acrobat DC is not suited business analytics formulas or other similar applications.

MyCase

My case is well suited for collaboration with clients and remote access to online documents. It allows for secure online communication with clients in a secure online portal. These features allow for increased and efficient communication with clients about the status of their case. It saves time by avoiding unnecessary client phone calls and meetings. It allows attorneys and staff to remotely access documents without being tied down by a local server at an office using this cloud SAS program.Its automatic document preparation program lacks some features and has limited support for Apple software. The API for MyCase is limited to a few software integrations. Importing contact information from other programs is limited, and backing up online documents is currently restricted to a new Dropbox integration. MyCase has good timekeeping, billing, invoice, and credit card processing features that improve collecting account receivables. These features in and of themselves can justify the cost of the program.

Pros

Adobe Acrobat DC

  • For our purpose, being able to quickly set up optimization settings is really important to us. It allows us to easily open a pdf, select the proper optimization setting, and process the pdf. All in a few simple steps. This allows us to do our job more effectively.
  • Acrobat also allows us to preflight a pdf when necessary. If we're having a problem with a pdf, being able to use numerous preflight options to diagnose a problem is extremely helpful to us. It allows us to find the issue and relay this information to the client to hopefully prevent a future issue.
  • We try to never update a client's pdf, but if for some reason we need to make a small text change, having the ability and freedom to do so in Acrobat can be a huge timesaver. Acrobat makes editorial changes a breeze.
  • If we're doing anything design-related internally, Acrobat allows for easy commenting on PDFs. This is a nice feature as it allows you to quickly point out necessary changes for the designer.

  • Some icons in the toolbar could be improved so they are more immmediately recognisable. Saves time having to hover over them to see what they actually do.
  • Export function to other packages may be helpful for those not in the Microsoft ecosystem (e.g. Google docs).

I use this program almost every day. Most of the documents we work with are already PDFs so it would be problematic if I didn't have this program anymore. I would renew it because it has made working with documents so much more efficient than when we used to rely on using Microsoft Word, printing, and scanning!

Every time I think of something I need to accomplish, whether it be creating a form that has fillable boxes, or converting one type of file to another, Adobe Acrobat can perform that function, and with a minimum of research necessary on deciphering how to accomplish the task. Just having features but being too hard to use can sink a program, and luckily this program is easy but capable.

It is so easy to use. We've had multiple people join our team and they don't have any issues using it right away. It's also easy to use new features as they're developed. I think everyone should have and use a simple case management platform, and MyCase is my usual recommendation.

Overall, Adobe Acrobat DC performs at an acceptable rate. The software takes some time to load, but nothing that is unreasonable when launching a document. The program responds at a reasonable speed and performs well when operating tasks. It takes time for it to evaluate a document when you request to edit the document, but that is understandable considering it is identifying words and such in the document.

I haven't had to use the customer support very often, it at all. Why? Because the software has a well though through user interface and has lots of horsepower when it needs to deal with gigantic documents. I don't think I've ever seen it crash.

Adobe DC was a free to install version, lite software that got our team everything we needed without needing to go and spend gobs of money on software licenses for 20-30 people. It is helpful, searchable (mostly) and gets the team everything the need to be able to read and open PDF files.
