Adobe Analytics

Start-ups with an extremely limited marketing budget may be better suited with free software, as they can provide basic solutions. Adobe Analytics on the other hand is the Ferrari of marketing software. It has a beautiful interface, deep powerful features, and the tools needed for a serious marketer. Any company who has a marginal marketing budget would benefit by paying the small cost for the program. You will recoup the cost on your first marketing campaign

Crashlytics

Crashlytics is almost a defacto standard in the Android world for tracking crashes in the field. I've used it on the last 4 Android projects I've been on.It's not as helpful on iOS' stacktraces but I'm not sure if anything would be better because iOS stack traces are from ObjC code which is not as useful as Java stacktraces.

Pros

  • Provides an intuitive, visual interface which makes manipulating data sets easily viewable and understandable for effective use in marketing application.
  • Calculates potential ROI-Based on online funnels, user data and conversion goals the program accurately calculates potential ROI. This is extremely helpful when making budget decisions for new campaigns.
  • Segmenting-The software has a powerful engine that makes segmenting user groups which has allowed us to convert clients into paying customers.

  • Providing stack traces that are useful when users have crashes.
  • Tracking crashes per version (app and OS) so we know whether to release a version to everyone instead of a subset.
  • Provides trending crsahes/problems if there's a spike in issues so we can get on it quickly.

Cons

  • Price point-some of Adobe Analytics competitors offer similar solutions or free or at a cheaper cost. While competitors solutions are limited and not nearly as efficient; they get the job done in certain marketing applications.

  • Would be great if they could link common system-level exceptions to solutions
  • Sometimes the stack trace is not entirely useful, but not sure what can be done in those scenarios

Likelihood to Renew

Adobe Analytics9.8
Based on 29 answers
While there are other tools out there, customers who truly take advantage of Adobe SiteCatalyst's capabilities are likely to renew. Those only using a portion of its functionality may consider switching to Google Analytics, which has a simpler interface and often a cheaper cost.

Usability

Adobe Analytics6.8
Based on 9 answers
Not as intuitive as with Google Analytics. There are a lots of gotchas. Tool is best suited for analysts, not casual users. If you know what you're doing, it can be extremely powerful. The usability is getting better, for example, with their drag and drop calculated metrics builder and segment builder, but there is a steep learning curve overall to really know what you're getting with your reports.

Reliability and Availability

Adobe Analytics9.0
Based on 5 answers
Adobe SiteCatalyst has a good up-time track record, but there are cases in which the interface reports a "Network Acceleration" issue, which can be frustrating. There are also times when data can be "latent" for customers, but most of these cases are due to spikes in traffic or temporary server issues.

Support

Adobe Analytics5.7
Based on 9 answers
Customer service has always been the Achilles heel for this product. Support is often slow to respond, if at all. Account management has seemed to get better recently.

In-Person Training

Adobe Analytics3.6
Based on 3 answers
Myself and others have found the in-person training ok, but not outstanding. Trainers are good at explaining how to use the product features, but sometimes lack "real-world" experience on how to use the product as they are people who have often not previously been web analysts. There is also a shortcoming in company-provided training on advanced uses of the product. The implementation training is very good.

Online Training

Adobe Analytics8.0
Based on 4 answers
The online training for Adobe SiteCatalyst consists of short product videos. These are ok, but only go so far. For a while Adobe charged a fee for this, but recently made these available for free. There are many great blog posts that help users learn how to apply the product as well.

Implementation

Adobe Analytics8.0
Based on 7 answers
The success of implementations depend primarily on the solution design, and also on the ability to work with developers to get the solution implemented correctly. This is not an aspect of the product per se.

Compared it with Crittercism on a Xamarin project a while back and on that platform, Crittercism was the best. But on Android, Crashlytics is just a lot better in providing good stack traces and having a useful analytics console. It's pretty much the defacto standard on Android...everyone uses Crashlytics. It's even more common to use Crashlytics and the Firebase crash tracking; Firebase does track ANR's a lot better though.

Return on Investment

  • I would say the biggest plus Adobe Analytics has had on overall business objectives is being the most robust tool out there that we have used, which allows us to gather deeper insights for our clients, driving home more ROI.
  • I would also say the biggest downside to using Adobe Analytics is how frequently the tool will have issues and/or be under maintenance. Additionally, as stated previously, Adobe's support is pretty horrendous in times such as these.

  • We've been able to track down the root cause of an issue that we were not experiencing during development or testing because it only occurs in certain cases of flaky connectivity. Even after identifying the cause, it was not a reproducible issue, but because we are able to log non-fatal errors also, we could verify that the fix was working in production.
