Likelihood to Recommend

Adobe Analytics

I think Adobe Analytics is well suited for small or large businesses with the brain power to understand how the platform works and then use it to its full extent. It is a powerful platform that can become costly. I would not recommend AA to people who are beginners or have a limited budget for analytics.

Very well suited when you want to test across multiple pages and / or run heavily targeted or segmented campaigns. Lots of out of the box capabilities, and they can help add the ability to do anything else. You can create reusable custom scripts for targeting or tracking. Ease of implementation is great, and as I mentioned, the campaign reporting is top notch. If you still want additional insight, you can tie it in to 3rd parties like ClickTale or Google Analytics.

Pros

  • Adobe Analytics is a popular tool and seamless connections to popular analytic tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
  • Adobe Analytics internal reporting tool is top notch.
  • Adobe Analytics has always provided us really strong customer support.

  • Reconciling reported numbers to your analytics provider
  • Quickly driving a significant ROI from first few tests
  • Backed by awesome, knowledgeable team
  • Takes large complex tests in stride
  • Fast, durable, stable platform even when under large traffic loads
  • Cross device testing
  • Insight discovery, you find stuff out about your business you never knew

Cons

  • Adobe Analytics charges for conveniences that are stationary in other tools such as bitstream data.
  • Adobe Analytics UI is not very friendly.
  • Exporting data for multiple setups is cumbersome and can't be rolled up without additional addons.

  • Delivery times on managed service campaigns is frustratingly long. This has got better with the introduction of self serve options, but more complex campaigns under managed service are slow to launch. This can cause issues in very fast paced environments with constant change.
  • Analytics UI is not the most user friendly. Fine when you get used to it, but doesn't do a great job for the less experienced. Switching between results is pretty clunky.

  • New pricing models are very expensive compared to old pricing model, even though it includes several additional tools, most of which seem to be beneficial
  • Horrible support experience despite working with escalation teams to try and resolve
  • Several bugs in recent releases which remain unresolved for many months at a time

Usability

Adobe Analytics6.8

Again, learning how to use the system is difficult. It is nearly unusable if you haven't received training, and training from Adobe is EXTREMELY expensive

Personally, I find it quite easy to use. But for those members of our team who have little or no testing experience, it's been a bit more difficult. There's also training required for development teams in order to have your campaigns coded and set up in the most efficient way. Our developers have been able to do basic and intermediate tests with no difficulty, and they find the interface itself quite intuitive... it's just the extremely complex tests that require a bit more understanding.

The speed with which visualizations and data sets are returned within the tool and or data warehouse can be dissapointing.

Support

Adobe Analytics5.7
Based on 9 answers
I give the rating of a 4 just because it seems more like a process that is failing. Any time I have put a request in, they have taken days, sometimes weeks, to get back to me and even then, the issue may still persist. I believe this is the biggest weakness of the Adobe Analytics tool and has a lot of room for improvement.

They're very responsive, helpful, and respectful. From my perspective, they're a partner in our success - I always get the feeling that they care about what we're doing and helping us to succeed. Emails are usually answered quickly and I've never had to escalate an issue. The team is always willing to help us with anything we might need... I've had them on the phone with my entire dev team in more than one instance, helping to resolve tricky coding for complicated tests. Our dev team is in Manila, and they've also been very helpful in working with us on remote training which has been extremely helpful and also effective. When they're providing managed services, the communication is always excellent, and I've always appreciated the strategic support that they provide... they don't just execute on what I hand them, they make an effort to help us make it even better

In-Person Training

Adobe Analytics3.6
Based on 3 answers
It was a one-day training several years ago that cost the organization several thousand dollars. There were only about 10 people in the training class. Adobe tried to cram so much information into that one-day class that none of our users felt like they really learned anything helpful from the experience. Follow-up training is too expensive

Videos of the different tools plus the knowledge base articles, but you do have to take the initiative to do them yourself. There are also a few great books on the subject. *Nod to Adam Greco's SiteCatalyst Handbook

Implementation

Adobe Analytics8.0
Based on 7 answers
The success of implementations depend primarily on the solution design, and also on the ability to work with developers to get the solution implemented correctly. This is not an aspect of the product per se.

I give it a 10 because the only issue we had was a result of not following the guidance we were given. Maxymiser provided a customized implementation guide for each site where we were adding the code. On our site implementations when we followed that guide to the letter, it was extremely fast and easy and has worked very well.

Alternatives Considered

Google Analytics has a less steep learning curve. The visualization tools are better. The dashboards are more configurable.

I have used Adobe Test and Target and Webtrends Optimise in previous roles. Each of the tool deliver results but what makes Maxymiser stand out is the team that you work with on a day to day basis who make it easy for you deliver outstanding results.
