Adobe Campaign is well suited for enterprise-level marketing communications. It can manage and deploy large volumes of emails very efficiently. Workflows can allow multiple touches, staggered sends, and segmentation to occur all within one delivery if needed. Interactions and reporting can happen in real time or near real time if needed. When integrated with the rest of the Marketing Cloud, Campaign becomes even more powerful as platforms like Analytics and AEM can have functionality brought directly into Campaign for more effective content creation and reporting.

The customization options are nice and the templates are plentiful and endless. The one drawback is that their web-based system can be very finicky and annoying, especially when first trying to log in. The historical records are also a big plus, but the missing column values really slow down analyses and raise lots of questions by the marketing team.

Pros

  • Campaign Management: Awesome capability in automating and segmenting campaigns. However, automating and segmenting are minor compared to the marketing intelligence provide via tracking and integration with SiteCatalyst. Knowing our demography and behavior has influenced innovation to tailor our content to the needs of the target audience.
  • Overall this system has improved Mercola from a batch and blast shop to being able to personalize marketing to a demographic or individual level.
  • Simplicity of the UI for a technical tool. If you are doing email marketing, this is a must-have tool.

  • Simple tool. I say simple because it does what it is supposed to with very little issues. We used it to send email to a list and that is it and it worked.
  • Clean interface. The interface was clean, simple and easy to use.

As I have begun exploring competitors, I've come to realize that every competitor offers so much more functionality and integration than CheetahMail does. When we first signed our contract, CheetahMail was much more innovative and at the forefront of email. Since being bought out by Experian, we've seen a huge decline in service and innovation. They have laid off much of their staff and moved their account representatives to Costa Rica. They also heavily rely on on third parties which you will have to pay large amounts of money for while other Email Service Providers have integrated new technologies into their platform. You will get more for your money going to a different email service such as Responsys, Silverpop, Listrak and the like,

CheetahMail has a high learning curve to master and requires a lot of backend work with tech teams to set up. Navigation is not the best and everything that should be automated is still extremely manual.

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Account reps have a quick response time but a very slow resolution time. Because account reps do not have technical knowledge, there is a long long lead time between flagging a problem and tech team resolution.

Alternatives Considered

Because it's pricey, I've played around with cheaper alternatives when I didn't have access to it through work, such as Infusionsoft, ONTRAPORT & Pardot Marketing Automation. I found that all of them lacked the consistency and tools I needed to create strong results and as constantly comparing it to Adobe Campaign. The information was slightly off also and not as accurate.

We've evaluated 6 other email service providers and have come to the conclusion that CheetahMail is extremely lacking and consistently on the decline. They lack in innovation, in having the option to integrate data from other sources, in functionality when it comes to automating the email process. If you are going for their self-service option, stay away! I doubt they will still be in business give or take 5 years.
