Adobe Campaign

The features and options available in Adobe Campaign are extensive. We use it to run our marketing campaigns across multiple types of devices. It covers all the bases from e-mail, mobile, or a direct mail sent to a prospect, we can do it all. It is a great tool for just keeping track of things, coming campaign elements and a history of what has occurred. Reporting could use some work and the amount of customization required is a bit steep.

Marketo is better for larger sales & marketing teams that need to have a central hub for repetitive tasks and campaigns that work together on digital marketing to generate leads and sales. Marketo comes with different modules that can work for different marketing methods or goals. In cases of smaller teams, there are other solutions that may be better suited, as the cost for modules can easily add up quickly.

  • Lead scoring is a huge pro, especially in today's digital marketing and sales. Marketo’s lead scoring system allows your sales team to qualify a lead before pursuing, saving you valuable time and money. The nurturing program is a huge time saver, as you can nurture leads and then qualify them based on what you think.
  • Centralized marketing information. With Marketo, you can view all your digital marketing results in one place. Whether you are using email, landing pages, mobile advertising or forms (which, by the way, Marketo has a lot of to choose and customize), you can easily view this information from within the dashboard.

  • Sometimes there are an overwhelming amount of complex tasks to go through before starting a delivery campaign.
  • Lots of opportunity for failure within email deliveries. Important campaign information is often hidden behind multiple tabs you need to sort through.
  • Very poor in-application email editor.
  • In-application reporting is not intuitive.

Marketo

  • Technically heavy. Takes a bit to implement and understand - there's a bit of a learning curve here, and may require some help to stand up and implement.
  • Interface: They just rolled out a new interface, but they definitely have a "database" approach to the software - folders, subfolders, sections... can be confusing at first, but once you learn, you'll be locked in.
  • Rope - you can hang yourself. Need to be methodical and well executed with your campaigns, or you can get yourself into trouble!
  • Salesforce API... I would expect there to be a managed package.. but you set up the system through a traditional API connection. It's cumbersome and timely, but once it's set up, it's definitely rock solid.

Once you go for Neolane you are a bit stuck with it, so we will most likely stay with Neolane. Cost of investment and training are the main factors at work here. We havesimply have invested too much in the product to stop using it after 2 years.That said, my score of 8 does not imply that the product is worthy of getting an 8 but reflects our willingness to renew.Given that upgrading to a new version will cost again a substantial sum, we most likely will keep using the current version we are on which is 6X.

There are times when it is slightly slow for us, where we sit on a screen waiting for it to load. This could be our internet since we have had the same issue occasionally with other systems, but it is enough to make you crazy.

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Adobe Campaign offers unmatched customization but is definitely the least intuitive and user-friendly marketing automation tool I have ever used. We selected Adobe Campaign because we use other Adobe Marketing Cloud Products (Analytics and Target) but the integration with those tools is much more arduous than we anticipated.

Of all the options I've used, Marketo is the most customizable and allows you to have the most control over how it's used. While you can get base level functionality out of any of the marketing automation tools I've tried, if you're looking to do anything unique or innovative, I'd recommend Marketo.

  • Tracking of what users do on the content delivered to them and dynamic inclusion of users into different journeys is a must have feature, else you are driving a car without a rear view or side view mirror.
  • No other tool out there helps you map the whole end to end journey, with reporting, content, customization and unified approach for inbound as well as outbound interactions. That omni channel model itself is one big reason to go with Adobe Campaign.
